  1. well done!
  2. Welcome to the forum. Check out the site "university," "Resources," etc., all the info is available under "Resources" in the blue bar at the top of the page. Tons of information there. Or just ask. Tons of info there, also.
  3. Hummm. I did not know they had them.
  4. Glad you are back and thanks for the information. I made a quick trip to you sight and will have to go back several times to see it all. Lots to see and study. The fine scroll saw (finescrollsaw.com) site our of Spain has quit a collection old fretwork patterns. I have saved some that I hope to try someday.
  5. Without a doubt, if they are available, I would go with Hegner, they are built strong, simple, and easy to fix if the need ever arises. The blade breaking, in my opinion, is not the saw's fault. I think most people break blades when starting out; I know I did. I still break some, but nothing compared to when I first started. Even when I get a different saw, I will break some blades at first until I get comfortable with the tensioning for that saw. Of course, where you live and what is available to you plays a great part.
  6. Okay, you forgot to mention one tool: paintbrush. You must have used a paintbrush. That is a very cute scene. Nice clean cutting. Well done.
  7. Danny, do you have any electronic repair shops in your area? I would think anyone who knows electronics and has the equipment could troubleshoot and repair one of those boards for much less than $300, Maybe even a local computer repairperson.
  8. I think I need a bearing change on my Delta Mini lathe. The bearings were still available the last time I looked, but I remember reading somewhere on some forum that there were much better bearings out there in the bearing world. I can not longer find where I read that, but if I remove my bearings and see a number, I can probably find better ones. But do I need better ones? My lathe is in its teens, and the bearings have lasted that long. A new set of the same will probably outlast me.
  9. Great cutting. I cannot imagine what engineer decided that was a good place for an arm release for a scroll saw. Surely, it was one that had never scrolled.
  10. Looks like you still know what scrolling is about. Nice work.
  11. Oh, man! Faces like that make it all worth while. I bet that young lad shows that off to everyone!
  12. That is a beautiful piece. Barb, you are a very talented lady.
  13. Coming along nicely, Al. You will get to where you get comfortable with segmentation, inlay, and relief cutting. I didn't try it for several years. Now I look for reasons to do it.
  14. Well Done. I love the bird intarsias.
  15. Very nice!
  16. Simple, but effective.

    Hello

Emma, welcome to the Village. Glad to have you. I think you will enjoy your time here.
  18. I rarely make ornaments, so I never sell and never buy, but if I went to a vendor show. I would think the boxes would be a more attractive display. A nice background displays the ornament really nicely, and I think it makes it easier to store them from year to year. And that is my unproven, unsolicited, worthless opinion.
  19. I get a slight reaction to when using Cocobolo. I love the wood. I have quite a few pieces of it. But it does make my nose run and lots of sneezing.
  20. Do a little searching Esty for Celtic knot patterns. I know Alex Fox has some in his Esty store.
  21. I like those. Especially when the sun shines.
  22. I used to use Mineral Spirits but have found I like Alcohol best. Either denatured or rubbing. I have been using up a couple of old bottles of Rubbing alcohol that have been around the house for years. The smell of Denatured does not bother me as much as the Rubbing. I find there is less residue left from the adhesive on the wood when I use alcohol, and it dries a lot faster than the Mineral Spirits.
  23. That is a great cutting. I love to see happy dogs.
  24. Glad to have you back. I look forward to getting to know you, again.
