  1. Dan water based dyes have been around. As with anything else there are pro's and con's. I will follow this thread, I have used some, just not this brand. Extra work is involved but the results are great. Personally I like the one you mix with denatured alcohol as it dries quick and does not require the extra sanding.
  2. Sometimes a search on craigslist will turn up some free wood. Just depends on what your looking for. I have a full shop and so I can resaw or thickness found wood to the specs I need.
  3. I believe a small price to pay for a place we all come to. Good friends, information and helping each other, Life is so good.
  4. Good information. Thanks for sharing.
  5. Ray Getting out of the gate with this as your first project. Your off to a very good start. As time and practice comes you will grow. Thanks for sharing and welcome to the addiction
  6. Happy to help. This village is great as are the folks using it. Thanks Travis.
  7. I have been using a Porter Cable pancake compressor. Small, oil less and compact. It is noisy when it runs but does the job well. You can them at the big box stores as well as online. I believe it's a 6 gallon capacity and has 2 outlets and a regulator. Hope this helps some.
  8. Wow doom and gloom and then to find a silver lining in the cloud. Happy to hear. May want to think about a back up saw in case the future holds the same dilemma.
  9. Nice grab on the sheets. But please protect yourself, mdf dust is really nasty to the body. Nice work too.
  10. Kevin I get 50% up front, non-refundable. Balance due upon receipt. So many good comments above. Even our money states "In GOD we trust" . So sorry to hear you got taken for a ride, one last comment tho. Good guys finish last! Keep up the good work, live and learn my friend!
  11. I use 3M 77 and have never had an issue. Would definitely recommend this.
  12. I can't come close to that. I don't have a lot break but surely that is a record someplace.
  13. Great deal. Happy to hear things worked out well for you.
  14. Let us know how you made out. Best of luck for you.
  15. Welcome to the village. I run Corel Draw, I also have inkscape. Inkcape and Gimp are free programs and people like gimp for doing portraits. I would opt for the free programs before spending a bunch of money on one. As you grow and learn you can decide if you wish to move to a commercial program or not. Enjoy the village and jump in. Great place to be
  16. Customer relations is very important. And with all the forums around I wouldn't want to see a bad review for my company. I have not dealt with Paul for quite some time. Nothing personal just haven't For clocks I normally stay local if I need one or two for a project. For ordering more I have used Klock-it (sp) and was happy with them. Ray at Seyco is about the best example of customer care I have seen in many years. I'm just sorry to hear about the short comings listed here.
  17. Kids can be a nightmare. I have had some break pieces on display. Frustrating as all get out. Wished I had the answer for this. We invite people to pick up, touch and feel the quality. Just hard to control the kiddo's in the process. I feel your pain brother.
  18. Great job Jim. Going to have to cut one of these for sure.
  19. Great job Kevin. Love it.
  20. Ralph new cutting. I'm sure it will be well received. I like Dan's thoughts. I have used this to finish different pieces.
  21. This is just one of many ways to utilize it. Cu-do's for your usage
  22. I have watched and stayed silent. This is almost impossible to answer. Too many greats designers, artists and such a wide variety of art. I would suggest looking, watching all of them and learn. Develop your own style and artisan eye. It's a lesson you learn everyday. All of us are there and all of us have a unique style or preference. Welcome to the wonderful world of art, scrolling and imagination.
  23. Beautiful job for a great cause.
  24. Rivets will split the wood when they expand. Good clean cuts and sand if needed, then glue up. I use only Titebond and it has never failed me.
