The doctor is right. My neighbor had a pacemaker implanted and he said he felt a whole ton better. Not sure of the difference between his and yours but it's going to help no matter what. Best of everything to you Les. We'll all be praying for your successful surgery.

Many times the subject has come up here and on other forums/groups regarding the "hockey stick" problems with saw blades. There have been lots of explanations offered but to someone who has very little knowledge of things mechanical or scroll saws I thought this might help. I just ran across this picture in the Excalibur owner's manual. It pretty well shows the problem and how to correct it.

I'm really surprised to hear that. I have been cutting a lot of mahogany measuring 3/4" x 1 1/2" x 3 1/2". Compound cuts. Two the full length and then some fretwork and two along the outside edges. Here is a pic of the pattern I'm using. So far, I have gotten as many as 3 completely cut before I had to change the blade. I am using the Pegas #5MGT on my Excalibur 21 and I have found that running it at full speed works the best. It seems to clear the dust from the kerfs better at that speed. Maybe you should try speeding up your saw. When you get your new saw that is.

Yeah, you're right about that Dan. Sorry. But, what I have been trying to get at is this......a new person by the name of "Frosty the Snowman" logs on and asks where is the best place to buy one thing or another. They offer absolutely no information as to who they are, where they are, what type of projects they are interested in, what type/brand saw they have and the list goes on. It's very tough to help someone who offers nothing to work with. A long time ago, I suggested that we all "sign" our posts with our first names. That was pretty well received and most of us who are regulars did it. What is so different about adding a simple thing like the city, state, COUNTRY where you are located? It just makes sense to me. Am I being overly inquisitive? As for dogs, we don't have one. But if anybody is interested, we have two cats. I can post pics too.

Kevin, do you know what the difference is between the Dewalt sleeves and the EX sleeves? Are they longer? If the bearings are the same, I can't believe there would be any difference in the sleeves unless the through bolts are different also. It makes no sense. I want to take my saw apart later next year but I'm not sure how they come apart as opposed to the Dewalts. Can you offer any insight?

Well, I'm happy that you are enjoying it. I for one get frustrated sometimes. There is another sub-forum on here that somebody chimed in and asked a question. It was very much related to this topic. I couldn't give them an answer because of unknown location so I just glossed over it. No info, no answer. Simple as that.

Great pics and explanation. Hegner owners should take note and thoroughly inspect and lubricate their saws. Actually, we should all do this as preventative maintenance on our equipment and our bodies.

It's not for MY use. It's for everybody's use. I just enjoy knowing who, where, age range, and saw type/brand. I don't care what you do/did for a living. I don't care about kids/grandkids. Only things that pertain to our hobby. I honestly think this has gone off the rails and I truly am sorry for bringing it up.

It's not like I'm asking for their S.S. # or credit history. Just the minimum would be so helpful. Most folks have done it without pain but the newbies seem to drop in, ask a question and then just sit back. That's all. Nothing too difficult. I'm almost sorry I brought up the subject.

Well, just for an example, someone comes on here and asks the best place to buy one thing or another. Let's say just for the sake of it, they live in the U.K. If we don't know that, how can we offer any sort of advice? I recommend all the time for folks to check Craigslist for used tools. It helps to know what area of the U.S. or other country they live in to be able to offer any kind of suggestions. That's all.

They all come here for a quick answer to a question. It would help to know their location because sometimes the answer to their questions will depend on where they are. Even here in the U.S. location means a lot. How long does it take to fill in a profile? 2 minutes tops.

You don't need a project. Just take notice of when you step on the peddle, does it start immediately or is there that half second pause?

There have been numerous times where I have gone to a poster's profile to see mainly where they are located. Secondly to see what saw they are using and thirdly to see where they fall in age group. Other than people taking the time to "Introduce" themselves in the Introduction forum, too many people don't take the time to fill in their profile. You all know who you are so get busy and tell us a bit about you. Just sayin..........
