    What make is your drum sander? Is it an occillating unit? I have a Ridgid occillating spindle sander and if it's going to be a problem, I'd like to know now so I can sell it.

    Were you supposed to run it off batteries? DC? WTH? As to the table saw, wasn't your table top adjustable? Mine was and I had to square it to my saw blade when I first got it.

    I've been trying to find a source for those "L-bolts" expecially if they have flattened ends. I watch a lot of videos put out by a Japanese woodworker and he made some things using them but his source dried up. I can't find them anywhere because I don't know what they are correctly called. Can anybody give me any ideas on what they might be called other than L-bolts? I've tried everything I can think of. I have a few projects that I need them for and if they are too short they won't work. Clamp blocks and fence accessories are in my playbook. If you ever want to spend some time watching a series of videos, there is no dialogue just soft music. Very relaxing. His name is OHYO56 and he is very imaginative.

    I didn't realize they had a "free" website. I was one of their charter subscribers and had every copy up until we went out on the road and had to shut them off. Thanks. I'll check it out.

    You could go even farther with it and add a couple of wings to it that fold like a dining table. Might be handy to have a place to put stuff when in use.

    It definitely doesn't take up much room. I'd have to make it shorter though. I'm a "setter" not a "stander".

    Wayne, I'm trying to picture your stand as you described it and I can't get a mental picture. Can you maybe post a pic?

    I'm just curious, those of you who have watched this video, were you able to hear and/or understand what this guy was saying? I've turned up my volume to full blast and can't understand a word he says. I'm going in for the third watch to see if I can pick up anything I missed. I sort of know what he's saying but can't understand him at all.

    Absolutely, just make the top piece to accommodate the mounting holes of your saw and then fit it to a triangular base. When I built my 2 saw stands (2 Excaliburs) I built them in a 4 legged manner and I sort of regret it but I was thinking of installing drawers in the stand so it had to be a quad setup. Anyway, If I had it to do over again, I'd build it with 3 legs so I could straddle the single leg. My stands both have a vacuum system inside of them and are plumbed to a cyclone dust catcher and then up to the saw with plumbing to both top and bottom of the table. I used the little MetroVac 500 vacuums and they work great. I incorporated 2 7" wheels at the far end so I can pick up the front end and move the stands like a wheel barrow. I like to work outdoors when the weather permits. That's why I wanted the onboard dust control.

    Paul, please forgive me if I created a situation that you didn't need. I was and still am very worried about you. After losing Rockytime it doesn't take much to set me to worrying. Everybody here on SSV means so much to me that I notice whenever someone is absent for longer than a couple of days. I'm very sorry to hear of your wife's health struggle and yours too. At least you have each other to lean on. Drop us a note when you have time. We will all be praying for you both.

    Regarding the mention of luan plywood, when I first started scrolling, I had some luan scraps from a RV remodel that I had done and was using them for practice. I had the worst allergic reaction of my life from that wood. It was also before I got smart and bought a good respirator mask. Anyway, just a word of warning to anybody who may be sensitive to that type of fine dust. For me luan is the worst. I'll not use it at all.

    I've not had a problem. Just a tiny dot of oil is all it takes.

    Gonzo, I'm the same way. Not ambidextrous but able to use both sides for different tasks. I bat righthanded and bowl lefty. I was a champion pistol shooter lefty. Pour coffee righty.

    I made sure to keep a drop of oil on the roller axles so they will roll when being applied or unapplied. So far so good. Put a dot on each one with a marker so you can tell they actually roll.

    After reading all the posts from those of you who swear by top feeding, I think I'll stick to what I've been doing for the last 7 years. Bottom feeder I am, I am.

    I find it easier to bottom feed leaving the lower clamp intact and being able to see the top clamp for re-attachment. I tried top feeding and fought with not being able to see what I was doing with the bottom clamp.

    Atta Boy Frank, never say die. You're going to love that saw once you strip off the junk you don't need.
