  1. So, I'm guessing where the two marks on this picture would be the best place to screw them together? That would be roughly 1.25" thick including the base that will be added to it. Thanks Jim
  2. Hi Dick, I purchased this asst. kit of Modified Geometry Blades. Are any of these what you're talking about? Thanks Jim
  3. So John, would I screw from the wooden base up into the bottom of the motorcycle?
  4. I am planning on using something like oak or red oak as the base. Whatever I use on the walnut and oak will be clear, so the grain and color of the natural woods will show up nicely.
  5. So I have my motorcycle racer finished and am now going to work on a flat base for it stand on. Do I glue those pieces together first before staining or do I stain first then glue them together? I'm thinking glue together then finish. Thank you Jim
  6. Well, I finally finished the first walnut motorcycle racer. Man that walnut really tests my patience. Hopefully the next one will go smoother. The inside cuts were with a FDUR #1 blade, the outside cuts were with a FDUR #3 blade and then the veining is with a FDUR #5 blade. All in all I'm pretty happy with it. I'm guessing the more of these I cut in walnut, the more comfortable I will get. Oh and these are cut out of 4/1 Walnut and I will be putting a clear coat on this and will mount it on a 3/4" piece of oak with a clear coat on it as well. Sorry I haven't been on very much, but this and work has been keeping me pretty busy. Thanks for looking and I'm open to all the suggestions I can get. Thank you Jim
  7. If you reduced that size, they would make awesome napkin rings.
  8. Great job, but I need clarification. 5 minutes was just cutting out the stand correct?
  9. Thank you everyone for your comments. I will offer these up personalized (with the riders number on the bike), or they can be bought without any numbers on it. I'm thinking either burning the numbers into the bike or using a black fine tip sharpie. Thanks Jim
  10. Thank you Dick, I have 5 sold to some motorcycle racers that I know. And I'm hoping I will have some extras to walk around at the races with and try and sell them to other racers.
  11. Well I finished my second racer today. I only have 3 more to do by next weekend for the first race of the season. And figure our some kind of base and finish on them. Thanks for looking.
  12. Congrats Scott, glad you had a good one day event. Time to get back cutting.
  13. Awesome job.
  14. Great job on the puzzle Brian.
  15. Well good news. I have 5 motorcycle's sold already. LOL And I have spent all day in the garage working on my second motorcycle. Only have the back wheel, veining and outline of the bike to cut and it will be done. Hopefully I can get this finished today.
  16. Thanks everyone and I forgot to mention this is a Steve Good pattern.
  17. Thank you everyone. Dave I have 4 of these to cut out. I haven't decided on a clock yet. So I cut this one out without the clock. But some of the next 3 will have a clock in them. Thanks Jim
  18. Not really bragging but this is my first motorcycle I have cut out. This is cut out of 3/4" poplar. I used a FDUR #3 blade and it was difficult to do on the inside cuts. I tried a smaller #2 Olson blade, but it wondered off all over the place. All in all I'm pretty happy with it, but there are some things I need to figure out and work on. This one is roughly 8.5"x11". Thanks for taking time to look Jim
  19. Awesome, so glad that the saw is working for you.
  20. Thanks John and Kevin, I will try this also with one of my pieces. Who knows, I might need to find a clock supplier for inserts. Jim
  21. Uum, you totally lost me John.
  22. Great job Kevin.
  23. Thanks everyone, I only have the wheels to cut out now. I'm hoping to get that done tonight. I'm cutting one with the wheel intact and then another one with the clock in the front wheel. Jim
  24. Rocky, I think someones CAPS LOCK was on.
  25. So I'm cutting out Steve Goods Motorcycle pattern and am thinking about putting a clock inside of one the wheels. The wheels measure 2 7/8" in diameter. Would you all think the size of clock insert should be 2 1/4" or smaller? It is the one on this page. Motorcycle Thanks Jim
