  1. Here's my setup. I like the Foredom but you are limited to 1/4" shaft accessories. Most low speed grinders turn slower than one with variable speed. The slower speed works well for me and I really have no use for one that goes faster. I had this adapter made at a local machine shop. They charged me $100 which is plenty but well worth it to me. I have wheels on this cabinet so I can move it side to side for dust collection.
  2. Very nice. Be careful or you'll be hooked.
  3. Nice job. Love the wood.
  4. Turned out great. I'm sure he will love it.
  5. 1" wide 3/4" thick.
  6. I cut the profile on the front and sides then cut the back flat so I can glue the magnet on.
  7. That is super cute.
  8. Thanks so much. The chess pieces are compound cut on my scroll saw.
  9. The squares are 1 3/4" with 1/4" strips in between. The chess pieces are about 3/8" thick.
  10. This is the second one I've made but I dressed this one up a bit. I used maple, cherry and Peruvian walnut. Magnets are embedded from the back side in each square and a small one glued to the back of each piece.
  11. I put my fretwork on a flat surface and put the sanding mop in my cordless drill. That method supports the pieces. Works for me.
  12. What problem are you having? My main complaint with Inkscape is the printing function. I can print on 13" x 19" paper with my printer but Inkscape doesn't support that so I have to save my work and print it through adobe.
  13. What size of stock do you cut these out of? I have a bunch of chess pieces to cut. They are 1 1/4". Is that the blade you would recommend for those? If you haven't shipped my Pegas band saw blades yet throw a dozen in of what you think would work best for me to try and I will pay with paypal. There are some tight turns.
  14. I'm thinking it might be the alcohol in the shellac that is causing the problem. Is the bleeding more noticeable in the maple end grain? I use a lot of padauk and bleeding is definitely a problem.
  15. I took the picture out of the frame and cut off all of the wording. Rescrolled the message on a new piece of wood and glued it on. No one but us will ever know about my screw up. So happy it's done.
  16. Love it Barb. Where did you get the pattern?
  17. Thanks for sharing. According to him I sure don't oil my saw near enough.
  18. Nice work for sure Marg.
  19. Google "Tree of life black and white." Lots of them.
  20. Sorry, just saw your question. tI is sitting patiently on a shelf. My last show of the season is December 2. Preparation for my shows have been keeping my busy. I also have to get some more blue pine so I can redo it. Hopefully by the middle of December I will have it done.
  21. Awesome pattern and cutting.
  22. Looks great! You should be bragging.
  23. Lots of scrollin there. Nice work.
  24. I think it came out great.
