    If you follow Bear Woods Supply on Instagram, there are a number of folks making some beautiful large signs. Thinking about hitting that market when I retire next spring.

    It's been said many times, "We are our worst critics"!! The problems you see are because you know where they are based on the pattern. Pattern is in the waste can and cutting is framed and looks good. I'm not going to search for what I think MIGHT be an issue. It will look good on the wall.

    One of the people I work with needed a display case for a miniature flag in a veteran's shadow box. I made this from 3/8" square poplar with only glue joints. He is making a backer and cover for it. Still have a touch of sanding to do, but it came out better than I first thought. Tried a puzzle blade, but just could not hold the angles tight enough, so I went to a hobby size miter box. And yes, the photo is rotated 90 degrees in the phone.

    I really wanted the veining to stand out. Used a #5 to cut the stack (3/4").

    Cut 12 of these from 1/8" BB ply from a Steve Good pattern. Left them natural. Used a #7 FD-UR for the veining.

    I have my state quarter magnets in a shop that charges 30 points. May seem a bit heavy, but I still make what I would from table sales on the item. I made a display frame from steel and chalkboard paint and they call me with special orders. I check every 10 days or so on "regular" inventory needs.

    I have a rare earth magnet on the upper arm of my Dewalt. Slightly used blades go there.

    I use "Baby Soda Bottles" that are test tube looking that are the blanks of a 2 liter soda bottle before it is formed. I bought them from Steve Spangler Science and came with a plastic rack. I use a Sharpie to mark the blade size on the lid.

    There are several ways to go: stains like Unicorn Spit, acrylic paints from any craft section [Hobby Lobby, Walmart, JoAnn Fabric, Michael's, etc.] Of course, you could go with enamel like model paints-depending on the area to be covered.

    Haven't done a tray puzzle for a while. Might have to get started on one after seeing those.

    You can buy a 10 pack of 1/16th or 1/8" bits at Harbor Freight for very little money and they are definitely disposable at that price.

    That is the way I did mine. Used the hearts and the veining to register the name plates. Putting a strong light behind them made it easy to line up everything.

    Just looking at a pallet out back deciding whether to harvest the wood and found this interesting knot. Would have loved to see that branch. Nail head indicates sizing.

    My son works in the building supply industry. With the lockdown, they sold lots of lumber as people worked on their homes. Now, the sawmills are running wide open trying to catch up and in my opinion, kilns may be working overtime and there may be some damp wood hitting the market. I just tried to get some wood brick mould, and found out it had been on back order since 9/1. Had to go with PVC to get done before winter.

    I normally make ornaments for my cousins and their kids as a family gift exchange at Thanksgiving, but that's all off this year. So, I got patterns for the next generation as well as a few kids of the same age we have "adopted". Cut from 1/4" poplar. I stack cut the outlines and then used the hearts in the feet as well as some veining to register the name plates and finished from there.

    I have been shooting since 1972, some full time positions-other times as a contract shooter. I made background drapes from both black and white knit fabric so wrinkles are minimal. Built stands to vary the height of the background. I have three Nikon digital cameras and a variety of lenses and lighting as well as a Contax film camera, bit I still find myself reaching for my phone if I decide to document a project. I do ATTEMPT to clear the background, but it doesn't always happen. As was said earlier, this is "family sharing". If I want something better, I will make the effort to break out the SLR equipment. I appreciate sharing the tips for better pictures, but most folks here are not going to change how they shoot or post.
