  1. I had to forward two of those gems. After nearly 15 years in the truck parts business, the oil pan was all too relatable.
  2. If you have a spray gun or airbrush, you could use a dye stain like Unicorn Spit. It can go @100% or you can cut it with water.
  3. Since I do 99%of my work on the patio, I spray out in the grass. If it is only one or two pieces, I just spray half the blank, turn it and spray the other half (hand held). Last night, I had several pieces, so I put a rubber glove on my left hand and sprayed them all. That way, I didn't have to be quite so careful with the nozzle.
  4. One side of my brain says "What the hell, looks like fun". The other half (which can scream louder) is going, "Are you out of your ever loving mind?"
  5. I have used a nail board for painting, but never thought of it for gluing. But, I don't do a lot of that type of gluing.
  6. I just yesterday started a round of wood to wood and wood to metal projects with E6000. Seems to a great job, but is a lot like some of the tube style glues from the past--it can be runny. (I'm looking at you, ghost of DuPont Duro).
  7. This may be the book you are looking for:
  8. Little update: These are not glued up yet, but I'm having a blast making and painting these. Lots of trees, slightly less gingerbread men, and even fewer snowflakes, but a solid start on building stock.
  9. Trying to get a headstart on ornaments. When I actually started listing all I needed for family, I startled myself and then I signed up for a show in October, so the stack cutting has begun. This is 24 of the 36 I have gotten cut so far. The first six prototypes are in various stages of completion, but far enough along I could see it would work. These are 3" tall and will have the hats, hat bands and "carrot" noses handpainted. The eyes, mouth and buttons will be tiny shards of coal harvested less than 100 yards from where my dad grew up. The assembly will be then glued to a round ornament backer.
  10. Absolutely great work on the pattern and the execution of the total design. HUGE pat on the back!
  11. I'm not sure that I didn't employ that last person for a while.
  12. No stents, but four bypasses. Take some time and do your rehab. It takes a bit, but you WILL get energy back. Don't confuse your body telling you to rest with "zero motivation".
  13. I have a couple of nephews who might just say that to their Uncle Jim.
  14. That was my first saw. Loved learning on that thing, but the bellows was suspect. Get ready to adapt an aquarium pump for a blower.
  15. Is it just my system, or did Pete's original post run down the center, just one letter wide?
  16. There are times I take the challenges when I get tired of the repetition of some of the "favorites" I seem to do in infinity.
  17. If you're in the US, Klingspor makes several mops in various grits. I use a 240 in my drill press for fuzzies and a general "polish" on all my ornaments.
  18. There is a town in west Texas that describes that saw--El Paso.
  19. Wow! I'm late to the party, but hope you had a good/great dat.
  20. I thought I had found my missing camera, but closer examination show it to be a Canon, not as Nikon.
  21. Are they single?
  22. I was an engine guy but trained with a truck company. Nice midship mounted stick.
  23. I have been on the magazine board for about 15 years and have watched it trickle to a shell of its former glory. (There might be 10 or so active posters). I lived through the software debacle and actually was a beta tester for the current format which I have never warmed up to. As for folks monitoring the site, there used to be three or four staffers who were very involved in the board. I found The Village during the software conversion and have been a member for a few years. Since I don't do FB, the two forums are my outlets. I do follow both on Instagram. As for Steve's board, it was a grand idea that I tried for about a month. I think I even tried the Cafe.
  24. Prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
  25. I started to give this a sad face for the illustration of the truth. You know it's cold when a politician has his hands in his own pockets.
