  1. I will repost one from last month celebrating a retirement after 57 years at the same university.
  2. Been a while since I cut any spirals. Might have to dust them off and practice. Cute critter, however.
  3. Central Indiana sending greetings.
  4. Working 57 years at one place is special and when that place is a university, it is extra special. So, a friend is finally pulling the plug in about 10 days and I cut him a copy of the school logo in 3/4" cherry. Picked up some fresh #3MGT blades from @Denny Knappen and they ripped right through this project. (My first real cutting since cataract surgery.) The base is weighted by a few ounces of BBs in glue. Below are pics of the campus statue, the derivative logo and my cutting. Felt good to get some sawdust on my fingers!
  5. Definitely a challenge.
  6. Occoch has some veneered panels on their site. I got some cherry and I believe hickory. Seemed to have held up well.
  7. A few years back, I laminated some scraps of various thickness and species to do some birdhouses. They turned out different but neat.
  8. I carried a punch like that back when I was running rescue. Works great for popping tempered glass in vehicles to gain access. Wonder what ever happened to it?
  9. Somebody's been a little bit busy! Very good looking collection.
  10. The grain lends itself to the illusion of feathers. Wise choice of materials. Shellac gives just enough luster.
  11. Don't know if it were these exact lighthouses, but Sue Mey had some in the scroll saw magazine a couple of years ago. I did one for my aunt who loves lighthouses.
  12. Several performances of that song now running through my head. Either Alan Jackson or Alison Krauss.
  13. I have drawn blood twice. First time I was working very close to the blade and got distracted by a sudden noise and looked away. Second time, again working very close and sneezed! Both times, a fingertip bandaid and keep sawing. I think both times were FD-UR #3.
  14. Last fall, I brought two units home and both had shipping damage. Look closely
  15. Good to see you back around the village. Truly missed your talents as a designer and your helpfulness.

  16. I gave this a like, but would also like to register a "WOW" as well.
  17. I was putting my stuff in a frame, so the edges were not an issue.
  18. East central Indiana saying "Hello" and urging to look around and ask questions. Everyone here started with zero knowledge and by the school of experience tempered with the urging and answers of others, we have learned a thing or two.
  19. I bought two a couple of years ago, used one quite successfully and still waiting on the correct project for the second.
  20. I don't think the saw is eating the blades, but rather the inexperience and impatience of the students. Our local college had two DW788 saws in their woodshop and the blade holes were destroyed by people tilting the table and aggressively pushing the blades. And, just general pushing against the blades. If the students are having issues, a more expensive saw won't solve the problem. A balance of the correct blade (speed and feed) and a competent operator is what is needed.
  21. Not a frequent puzzler, but I took a long break after cataract surgery to overprotect my eyes from sawdust and did very little during Q4 last year. Like JT, I need to make something substantial, just to make sure the saw still likes me.
  22. I have a momentary from Harbor Freight that has worked without a hiccup for many years. Definitely my vote.
  23. Great work on that. Grew them one year, but didn't get them out of the ground before freeze, so they didn't make it through the winter.
  24. Guilty on all counts at times. I throw myself on the mercy of the court.
  25. Looks good to me. The reflection might be just a bit too dark, but maybe the water is stained with tannins. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it)
