  1. The grain lends itself to the illusion of feathers. Wise choice of materials. Shellac gives just enough luster.
  2. Don't know if it were these exact lighthouses, but Sue Mey had some in the scroll saw magazine a couple of years ago. I did one for my aunt who loves lighthouses.
  3. Several performances of that song now running through my head. Either Alan Jackson or Alison Krauss.
  4. I have drawn blood twice. First time I was working very close to the blade and got distracted by a sudden noise and looked away. Second time, again working very close and sneezed! Both times, a fingertip bandaid and keep sawing. I think both times were FD-UR #3.
  5. Last fall, I brought two units home and both had shipping damage. Look closely
  6. Good to see you back around the village. Truly missed your talents as a designer and your helpfulness.

  7. I gave this a like, but would also like to register a "WOW" as well.
  8. I was putting my stuff in a frame, so the edges were not an issue.
  9. Another hope for a great day--I am just late making the wishes known.
  10. East central Indiana saying "Hello" and urging to look around and ask questions. Everyone here started with zero knowledge and by the school of experience tempered with the urging and answers of others, we have learned a thing or two.
  11. I bought two a couple of years ago, used one quite successfully and still waiting on the correct project for the second.
  12. I don't think the saw is eating the blades, but rather the inexperience and impatience of the students. Our local college had two DW788 saws in their woodshop and the blade holes were destroyed by people tilting the table and aggressively pushing the blades. And, just general pushing against the blades. If the students are having issues, a more expensive saw won't solve the problem. A balance of the correct blade (speed and feed) and a competent operator is what is needed.
  13. Cake and drinks for all!! (At your own expense, of course) Big birthday wishes for the crew.
  14. Is it a magnet or a coil wrapped with wire? Excuse the question, but I have never been in that particular control box.
  15. Cake or pie; beer, wine or sodas; frantic activities or a quiet day, it's your day--ENJOY.
  16. Not a frequent puzzler, but I took a long break after cataract surgery to overprotect my eyes from sawdust and did very little during Q4 last year. Like JT, I need to make something substantial, just to make sure the saw still likes me.
  17. Big pot of navy beans cooked with ham and some kind of smoked pork (shanks or neck bones), fried potatoes and corn muffins.
  18. Never really tracked our dining out. I do know it is too frequent, but since I do 95% of the cooking, I can live with the meals out. We have been doing a lot of soup type meals since Christmas, so our dining out has been somewhat limited.
  19. ⛷❄ Not quite that cold, but close here. Was -2°F when I got up.
  20. And, it sounds like green sticks being cracked.
  21. I have a momentary from Harbor Freight that has worked without a hiccup for many years. Definitely my vote.
  22. Mike: Not to be short, but you have a great 3D pattern in your hand. Cut the cleavers outlines and handles, the do the parts of the letters and glue them on. Mount everything back to a gloss black backer. I would use a high quality silver paint on the cleavers and a highly figured wood for the handles. I would maybe use some brass rod for the rivets.
  23. Great work on that. Grew them one year, but didn't get them out of the ground before freeze, so they didn't make it through the winter.
  24. Central Indiana checking in at 16°F. Had a sausage muffin and coffee on my way to exercise.
  25. Guilty on all counts at times. I throw myself on the mercy of the court.
