The pattern Frank used for the scrolled pieces was published by Steve Good on his blog a couple of weeks ago. Steve said the pattern was specific to the hour glass he purchased on Amazon and provided an (affiliate) link to the hour glass on that post.
This is the link to the specific blog post with the pattern on Steve’s site:
https://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/2022/04/hourglass-scroll-saw-pattern.html
as noted, it contains the link to Amazon and the hourglass but I will also post it here as well. Please note however that Steve’s pattern calls for a specific size ( it was a full hour). There are different sizes and “times” of hourglasses at that Amazon link. At this time, it looks like they may be sold out of the one Steve’s plan calls for. Only a real issue or concern if you are planning to use Steve’s pattern as provided. Otherwise you would adjust pattern size as needed for the hourglass purchased.

I usually have no clue when you guys post these, But it was indeed the EYES and nose that I remembered. While the original was before my “childhood” (1964-1966) so I was a baby/toddler then, we did watch reruns of it after school as I recall. (Clearly showing I grew up with only a few tv channels and definitely no cable or streaming. ) I was surprised to learn that it only aired for two years as I would have sworn we saw a lot more episodes.
Both are beautiful and each will have an appeal to different people no doubt. Like you, I think if I was picking one to keep, I would like the darker tinted one. But, you know that old saying, happy wife, happy, life.
Very cute. There is a large octopus puzzle pattern in the recent issue of the Scrollsaw Woodworking & Crafts magazine that just came out in the past week or so. (Noting just in case. You or someone you know really likes octopus )
Beautiful piece Frank. I can see why your wife would have laid claim to it. Only improvement for one for her might have been if it had a hummingbird or two perhaps. (I think you have noted before she loves hummingbirds and have made her several pieces with them. Hope my mind is remembering correctly.) I too liked this pattern when Steve shared it.
I think with Steve’s patterns, he aims for fairly easy to do projects that don’t take a lot of time for new scrollers and those with little time to work on big projects. I think that serves a large audience and is needed, especially in bringing new people to the hobby. However, You, Dave and many others on here are much more advanced and detailed in your work so I can see where you would not regularly find things on his site appealing to your needs. That’s why it’s good we have other good artists who do more intricate and detail patterns as well. Plus, you and Dave both like to come up with your own ideas or spin on things. It’s always great though when we do find one we like like this one. Maybe I’ll get time to try one myself.
Nice work, we don’t care when you did it. However, I have to say usually when most folks use “DW” as an abbreviation, it usually refers to “darling wife” or maybe. “D$#@ wife” if upset with her. So, I first read that sentence as my darling wife so she was making aweful noise and wasn’t sure how you planned to open her up. Finally the brain worked and figured out you meant your saw, I’m assuming It’s a Dewalt.
Nice work on this one Dan. I have seen some similar, but slightly different ones from Steve Good and Sue Mey recently. I liked them all and have been procrastinating on attempting one.
Any office supply, hobby store or arts and crafts stores in your area probably have some. I believe I have seen them before at Walmart and Target as well.
The master is getting ready for the new season. Looks good. Glad you could check things out and figure out what you needed and wanted to do. Good luck with your season coming up.
Hello Don and welcome to the Village from the foothills of the great smoky mountains in the eastern part of the state of Tennessee in the USA. Look forward to your participation.
