This pattern called for the 1 1/2” board be split, I had two 3/4” pieces. The inside cuts on the top piece was cut then glued to the back half, then the side pattern placed on ( there were registration marks) and the compound cutting completed.
Here is another piece from that book. Burning on the wing, one part is very thin.
I am still practicing. Learning to go slow, let the blade do the work, etc.
I have a hard time with compound cutting so I have been practicing. I bought a book. Compound Scroll Saw Creations by Diana Thompson. Fox Chapel Publishing.
I have been working on compound cuts. I just wanted to get better and more comfortable with them. This is my latest one. The clock was cut from walnut. The shell and snail is cut from red cedar, the swan from popular. The bottom is weighted with lead.
What I saw was him saying that the China tools had issues and he recommended the INCRA over the China tool. And in the next one he flat out showed the combination square was sloppy.
I use micro bits, bought by the dozen. I use a dremel tool with an extremely small collet. I put the dremel in the plunge router base and drill my holes that way.
I did install the guides. Then I needed to re saw some thing. I did not change back to the thin blade. Then my cusband decided to cut a VERY THICK hunk of wood into a circle so he could mount it to his lathe. Now I need a new blade. I haven’t put the thin blade back on it yet.
