  1. I was told today price is going up for poplar Today I paid 2.57 bf for a 15' x 12" x 13/16 - they planed it free
  2. Here is the last board I purchased 2 weeks ago (going tomorrow for a refill ) Poplar 16' x 9.75" cost = $27.15
  3. Ah ok. I haven't taken that piece apart yet - too scared to try
  4. Nope - linear foot here is price times length - thickness doesn't matter - that's how they calculate it here I get Pine by the linear foot - 2.45 per foot
  5. Very nice - love the drying rack but don't have enough room LOL
  6. Incredible... Simply incredible! Thanks for sharing it
  7. Nice buy, I pay 2.75 bft regularly! I have the formula on my phone so when I go to my local shop I can check them as they add @Rockytime Board feet IMO has several interpretations... Board feet = length(ft) * width(in) * thickness(in) / 12 Example: 16' x 9.75" x 1" / 12 = 13 board feet However, many lumber yards will use a simpler calculation (it assumes boards to be 1" thick) length (in) x width (in) / 144 192" x 9.75 = 13 board feet You'll notice that if you use the top calc with a 3/4" board which is an actual size the board feet is significantly lower - 9.75 board feet https://www.southernpine.com/lumber-calculator/ https://www.omnicalculator.com/construction/board-foot
  8. I've looked at the upper arm, the housing doesn't look anything like that it's all one piece front to back at the rear is the rear housing
  9. I don't think I have that part on my machine - at least I've not seen it yet
  10. Lately, my Delta has been "knocking" intermittently. It sounded like it was coming from the bottom hold but couldn't be sure. Today I was cutting a larger than normal piece and the knocking got more intense so I stopped. I took apart the machine, trying to remember what I did last time I took it apart. Got it all down except for the top electrical switches. Moved the parts around, up/down and could not figure out where the sound was coming from. So, I put it back together hoping I would not have left over pieces like last time. Turned it on, leveled and started to cut a piece and no more sound The top arm is much stiffer than it was, so not sure if that could have been the problem. Perhaps the screws etc. just needed tightening? I have no idea what I did, but it seems to have stopped the "knocking" and worked. Just thought I'd share in case someone else with this saw experienced something similar.
  11. I built a rolling cart for mine. However, it's not necessarily "regular" chair height IMO as long as you build your stand solid, the vibrations should be minimal if at all I believe @octoolguy posted plans for short stand a while ago made out of 2x4's I believe Looked pretty solid. May want to do a search Here I think is a pic of a stand that looks quite sturdy
  12. It's a great looking saw You probably already know this, but make sure to tune it up before using it for projects - makes a big difference
  13. Grats on the purchase and the new arrival Can't wait to see what you do with it!
  14. I know right? I keep reading where I'm supposed to toss out all my scrap but I just can't bring myself to throw in the garbage something I may be able to use or figure out a use for in the future. After all, a tree gave its life for these projects and I just can't let that go to waste Being a pack rat doesn't help either
  15. Yes, I have an entire inventory and display set up aimed at the children's market. I market them as Children's Art projects - consists of all unfinished puzzles, wall hangers, these items and a few more I'm coming up with over the next few weeks.
  16. So after reading all the responses (thanks all) of what to do with my scraps, I've decided to make the following Children's sets. When I place patterns for cutting, in all the gaps, I also place any of these smaller patterns giving me a lot less scrap overall. It also allows me to use the new scrap pieces I get from the local lumber yard they are giving me. These sets are made from Basswood and Pine scraps and can be painted/colored and are becoming fairly popular at our events. I have several more made from Oak and poplar scraps as well Thanks as always in advance
  17. That's how I currently resaw. I seldom glue boards to make larger however
  18. Is that the 13.625-in ? As I posted or is it a different one?
  19. The local lumber yard I found, is now giving me free scrap wood that I would like to re-saw. Everything from Poplar and Pine to Oak and Black Walnut. Today I got some Oak throw aways. They're not large pieces but large enough for me to use for a few of our new products. But I need to resaw the scraps I've talked the "trouble and strife" err "The wonderful wife" into getting a bandsaw for our shop mostly for resawing and the like. From what I've read, a 14" is the way to go - of course it's also mostly out of my price range LOL. Is there any way I can get away with a 10" bandsaw for resawing? The scraps are not large. usually less than 18" long x 7" wide x 1 1/4" thick. The other threads I read regarding recommendations were missing a few details I need. I don't have a lot of money and would like to keep the price below $500, if I have to go to 600 I will. Basically, as low as possible. Used is out of the question as there are never any good used woodworking equipment for sale around here reasonably priced. Usually when something is for sale, it's price at or above the price of a new item. The one's I'm most considering are the following Harbor Freight: - $399 - I like this price! Central Machinery - 14 in. 4 Speed Woodworking Band Saw. I tend to not purchase this type of equipment from HF but I read in another thread someone had one and it worked well for them. Lowes: $570 - a little higher than I want to spend PORTER-CABLE 13.625-in 10-Amp Stationary - I read in another thread that PC performed very well just not sure if this was the model or it was another If I can get away with less than a 14" I would more than likely select either a Wen or a Rikon 10". Thoughts? Thanks as always in advance
  20. Not annoying to me - kinda fun and sometimes frustrating - more fun than frustrating
  21. I'm in the Tommy Lee category also!
  22. Very cool! How big is the large one?
  23. Cool, next time I'm in that area I will have to stop there We travel down that way once a year for a few days rest - usually we stay in Clearwater area but a days travel is no big deal for some lumber that I can't get here Thanks
  24. The new table saw should help with that remodel no?
