  1. A great present and nice work Ralph. I had the same thought as Dan, that Fred and Barney would set it off.
  2. I use Methylated spirits (Metho). I think it is roughly the same as your isopropyl alcohol. It has been altered slightly over the years. Now it has some additive that tastes really bad, so they say, to stop the drunks from drinking it and it has a purple colour added, but it does not effect it's use..

    A job well done Rolf.
  4. I find this strange, that shellac will seal the timber but lacquer wont. I was taught that "Sanding Sealer" really just takes the place of coat number 1, but in the case of gloss finishes, it will cut back easier. I have never used it and neither have any of the polishers I have worked with. The only explanation that I can think of regarding the lacquer soaking in and requiring so many coats, is that it was thinned to much. Glad you found a solution to the problem.
  5. Those are neat, they bring a smile to my face.
  6. I have done the same with "Neon Moon". They are true poets.
  7. Good stuff Don. I'm sure your mate will be impressed.
  8. Very Nice Chris. It is sure to be a conversation starter. Excellent job.
  9. Thanks Charlie. My introduction to Garth was a concert he did in New York, quite a while ago via VHS I don't know how a bloke could still sing while doing all that running and jumping he does. On my wife's and my wish list is to see Reba and Garth. We did see Brookes and Dunn in Perth a few years back.
  10. I have always toyed with the idea of cutting records. Have actually bought a couple to cut, but liked them so couldn't bring myself to do it. I bet he will be impressed

  15. thanks Frank and Rodney. I decided to make the frame out of 19 x 19mm (3/4" x 3/4") on these and I must say I was impressed at how they turned out. I usually use 42 x 19mm (Ex 2" x 1") for my frames.
  16. Took me a few minutes to figure it out, then the penny dropped .... 3 Lady Birds Looks great barb. I Like the colours

  22. Nice cutting Charlie. I saw your pattern in a previous post. I just can't get a handle on this bloke though.
  23. I should read stories more carefully. I always thought of Charlie Dearing as one of the best pattern makers. He sure can cut as well. But looking at the three cuttings, you, my man, are standing proud, right alongside him.
  24. Off to an early start. An organised man They look good. As for the top and bottom, haven't a clue!
