    Achoo!

9 Tissue Boxes done and dusted Radiata Pine and Jarrah 3 coats of 30% gloss lacquer with the exception of the Right hand rose, 3 coats of full gloss. I used glitter on the felt behind the church, looks like a starry night. Click on the pic to enlarge. Thanks for looking Now to sell them
  3. I like that pattern of Frank's and you have done him proud with your cutting and framing
  4. A pretty good effort for a first go. My 1st attempt, you'd of been surprised to know I followed a line Definitely worth getting a quality glass and light. I purchased mine many years ago from the WA Blind Institute. I don't usually wear my glasses when using the magnifier, I find that a very low power set of readers are all I need. If I wear my normal glasses It all goes to mud. Try Cutting on a red line, I always convert my patterns to Red line with a very light grey, blue or green infill. Keep on Keeping On
  5. Good stuff Kevin. I bought some of the water with colouring once, It looked nice and bright. Lots of truth to the saying "Looks can be deceiving"
  6. A gorgeous pattern Bobby, of a very pretty lady, sadly lost too soon.
  7. Great pattern and cutting Charlie. I have never heard of Brandi Carlile, but now that I have, she'll be on my play list.
  8. G'day Colin, Another supplier you should also have a look at is "Wooden Teddy Bear". They not only sell blades (Flying Dutchman and Olson) but a variety of hardware suitable for scrolling, not to mention thousands of patterns. I can only vouch for my experience, but they are always quick and reasonable, keeping in mind they send from the US to Aust. The Wooden Teddy Bear
  9. I have 2 printers both are inkjet. 1 is a brother MFCJ8920DW which has dual trays A3 and A4. I did think of getting a laser, but now I only use it for patterns and very little else.. The other in Epson XP720A4. This is super quality and prints on printable CD, DVD etc. I use generic inks so they are both pretty cheap to run. Probably both are discontinued now, but have been good machines.
  10. 3 out of 3 Danny Beautifully cut Great pattern The best voice and entertainer ever (IMHO)
  11. Looks like he's bit light on with the fibre Frank Beautiful piece
  12. Yep, I'm glad I'm not still 18 Marg. A few spanners went flying of into the paddock, never to be found again, when working on my car and they slipped and my knuckles got barked I've learnt a "Little" patience, just swore and binned them . I'll do them again, because I really like the pattern and You may not believe this, but I don't have any of my cuttings, so I was going to keep one and hang.
  13. Beautiful Frank. They would grace any wall.
  14. Broken record coming up I like the houses and love the birds. Good job Jim.
  15. I do like the Tractor scene.
  16. Seems very strange (Tight) that the warranty will not be honoured when according to the "horse", all some have is a minor scratch or a stripped screw that has been replaced. Not much faith in their product (or repairer)
  17. Rodney, you are not going to believe this, but I did all of the above with the exception of hand sanding. What I usually do is place the piece on a non slip drawer liner then using a ROS on slow to medium speed let it float over the cutting. I reckon that another thing that contributed was the paper disk was rather thick and where the holes had been punched, it was uneven. Not an excuse as the cutting was very fine, just another brick in the wall.
  18. I must learn to not rely on memory when I haven't cut a pattern for a while. I have this habit of altering them as I cut or just prior to cutting I will study pattern and mark in bridges and alteration with a pencil.. As this one had been pasted down and ready to go for so long, I just grabbed it and cut away. I should actually go to the patterns on the computer and make the alterations, then this wouldn't happen, well less chance of it anyway
  19. Well, it happened. I had a couple of portraits of the Duke, Sandwiched together, pattern glued on and ready to go, actually they had been ready to go for about 2 years While I waiting for the lacquer on some tissue boxes to dry, I reckoned, I'd finally cut them, as I had just sold my Last John Wayne portrait. Over the next couple of days, I finished cutting, but it had been so long, that I forgot two small bridges, (A Bridge too Far") Made them very delicate and while sanding the paper caught and, bang designer firewood. You ask.. what happened to No 2 ? Wasn't worth my time seeing how delicate they were. In the bin they went. Good side, I have 2 A3 backers painted and 2 frames to fit A 3 work ready to go.
  20. I love them all Kirk. They would adorn our dunny
  21. Thanks Charlie, I went to many Slim Dusty concerts, most of them in Country Town Halls and they were the best. After the show He would come back on stage and spend hours just chatting and signing autographs. Mt Eldest son was about 8 when I took him to one and Slim asked for him to be passed up on the stage, sat him on his knee and signed a photo for him. He still has it, pride of place. "The Pub with No Beer" was his 1st big hit and it probably still holds some records in Oz. "Lights on the Hill" is one of my many favourites.
  22. You are certainly making saw dust Kevin. Good job on all.
  23. What a beautiful idea Roberta. The 1st thing that came to mind was the song "Butterfly Kisses"
  24. Off topic slightly. I've had a few saws. When I 1st found forums regarding scroll sawing, the go to saw was the Dewalt. I lusted after one, but none in Oz. after a few years I came across Dewalt Factory reconditioned tools. and I forked over the cash. got it landed at home cheaper than the US retail price and it's still going after 15+ years. Some times you do hit a boundary.
  25. That's nice Dick. I love making toys and painting is a bit of a challenge at 1st, but as Marg says, it gets easier and better as time goes by.
