  1. Finally finished a bunch of tray puzzles. These are all cut from 6mm MDF with a 3mm MDF backer. They are A4 size. thanks for looking These 2 are pics of Primary School I work at. The Wife is the Principle. The building is 35 pieces and Mary 20 pieces. I donated these so that the school can raffle them. I have shown Dump Truck Puzzles before. I have completed 4 of them ranging from 14 to 20 pieces. Have already sold 2 These are from a book I down loaded a colouring page and modified it for the Butterflys The Number Puzzles are from the same book as the whales Noah's Ark................ A Steve Goode Pattern. I modified it a little by removing the "Fish" and replacing it with a rabbit. The dove is very small so I have glued that in place. Next ones I will modify a little more by having the dove outside of the ark and repositioning some of the animals.
  2. A beautiful tribute. Nothing more to say, just, well done
  3. This is a Steve Goode pattern of Noah's Ark. I did not want to share the pattern so I shrunk it down,. Steve does great patterns, but, well, this one, although a good pattern has a pretty obvious fault. I had a good laugh and so did the War Office. Not really the chimney, I suppose they had to cook their tucker somehow
  4. You certainly have been staying out of trouble mate. A great selection.
  5. What a great job Don. You have more patience than me mate. That touch of colour really sets it off.
  6. It's really the nature of sawing, you will end up with some "Fuzzies" on the bottom of a cut. Reverse teeth blades do reduce it considerably, but not entirely. I always run a sander over the reverse and that takes care of everything.
  7. I can relate Paul. I have had about 1/2 dozen mouth organs and the best I did was a train whistle :). I also have a Jews Harp and then I nearly busted my teeth. Oh well, at least I'm pretty good on a record player
  8. I'm sure the vet will appreciate it. I don't cut layers, for a bit of a different reason than the others, and that's time. My time is worth more than the ply and I would never be able to recoup enough to make it worthwhile. Having said that I can definitely see a layered project being done for a present, as then time doesn't enter into it.
  9. Never missed an episode of Gun Smoke. Matt Dillon was the slowest draw in the west We used to laugh at a line in one episode where he yelled "Stop or I'll shoot" and shot between the I'll and Shoot Miss Kitty must of been the most frustrated woman in America
  10. A super cutting from a super pattern. An excellent collaboration.
  11. A nice piece Frank. Like you, It would look nice in my cabinet, but can't carry a tune in bucket.
  12. That's a great idea, My Dad is a Ham operator.
  13. Thank you all, for the kind remarks.
  14. Bugger, I had a real story typed up and lost it This is the type I have Marg. If I remember correctly I did get it from Ebay. It is folded so that one edge is always sealed. If you do need to wrap something larger, you can unfold it. It's not cheap, but I have wrapped many hundreds of puzzles and the roll doesn't look touched. Because of the weight, delivery is a bit dear, but if you can P/U it would save a bob or two. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/125363895564?chn=ps&_ul=AU&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A11pCf9lJZSPSq5GETRtLQvg31&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-139619-5960-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=125363895564&targetid=&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=1000653&poi=&campaignid=15984321586&mkgroupid=&rlsatarget=&abcId=9300814&merchantid=7364522 With the impulse sealer. I would get the ones with a wire element as these cut the plastic as you seal. The ribbon ones requires you to cut the items loose with scissors etc. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/313663544223?chn=ps&_ul=AU&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A13W7OZHQtQ2q7HPfEhuQXcA15&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-139619-5960-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=313663544223&targetid=&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=1000653&poi=&campaignid=15984321586&mkgroupid=&rlsatarget=&abcId=9300814&merchantid=736452 These seem pretty cheap. I may get myself a spare. Thanks for comments
  15. Well done Marg. Proves the old adage, "There's more than one way to skin a cat"
  16. Thanks Brenda and Paul. Brenda, I use house hold acrylics. Flat and if not available satin. If you get the sample pots they are good value. Once I have painted the colour, I spray a clear gloss lacquer x 2 coats over it all. I use a soft brush and just lay the paint on any old how, then brush it out lightly in the one direction. When dry, cut back with 220 or 360g paper and re-coat. Yellow, Oranges and Reds are pains, in that order for covering and some times 3 coats are required. By cutting back between all coats, including the clear, you tend to knock of any outstanding brush marks and imperfections.
  17. Here is my latest puzzle. I got the idea from a Pintrest post. I cut and painted this before getting crook, just took some pics and decided it was time to post. I have about a dozen tray puzzles in various stages of completion in the shed. Will post those when finished. This shrink wrapped, I normally take pics before wrapping. Cut from 30mm Radiata Pine
  18. Excellent work Charlie. I have only seen the movie once, that was when it came out in the cinemas. Loved it, great movie, but I'm not sure if I'd like to see it again, sort of like Deliverance, Once is enough.
  19. Bunnings have Balsa, it is very light and as Ray has said, it is used for model planes etc. Also to make dolls house furniture. Quite expensive and very restricted in sizes. I did a little research on Paulownia and it seems to be quite a new timber on the market. The prices are reasonable a 2.4 metre length of DAR 90 x 30 mm Radiata pine is $31.90 compared to $37.92 for Paulownia. Mind you the Paulwonia price is as of 2019 so it probably is quite a bit dearer now. http://paulowniatimber.com.au/index.php
  20. That's neat. It's amazing how blue the black looks.
  21. A nice collection. I do like the ornaments. There is nothing like having a quality glass when scrolling. I used one even before I had glasses. I have a 200mm, glass (Not plastic) lens and it uses circular fluro tubes.
  22. You certainly have a collection of winners there Barb I'd hazard a guess you won't bring any of them home. The zigzag Xmas tree Deco's and the Wine door frame hanger really catch my eye. Now............... back to Wordle
  23. Thanks Charlie. We went to a Markets in Coolgardie on Sunday, about 1/2 hour away from home. Two different people bought these two, one while we were still setting up another about 15 minutes after the official opening.
  24. Thanks Paul. The eyes are "Googly) eyes which I set in to the timber and fix with superglue. Like these If only I could paint like that
  25. I have had quite a few comments re these at school. It's always the inlay that gets the "How do you do that". The answer, "It's a trade secret"
