  1. I am getting some aluminum oxide from my table. on my hands and wood pieces. Even days after I cleaned and waxed it. I have put johnson paste wax on it. During that process it gave off lots of black oxide. What is the full cleaning process I should use for aluminum table? I own a hawk. Me. Mark Eason
  2. After a brief examination, I like the white one. It seems like it is cleaner sharper cuts because higher contrast. The eye and jaw seems to be the longest piece from a bridge. Does the upper jaw need a bridge or two also?
  3. Wow those are pretty eye catching. The top one red black white, does look a bit snazzier. Are those about 20 inches tall? Me. Mark Eason
  4. Now those look pretty. Good stuff. So the hole in the bottom is for switch and battery charging access.
  5. holey birds. Dick that took 36 hours just for all feathers. Was that like 4 hours a day? in the hot desert or in the weee hours of the morning.
  6. great job. I like videos that shows the steps. I used that concept with different shapes. That kinda looks like a verticle canon barrel. Maybe a wiskey bottle (Pirate theme) shape could be a vase. Yo ho, Ha , just throwing out ideas.
  7. nice wine decor. Hmmmm.
  8. I quit drinking a long time ago. 1991. So I am not up on Wine accessories. So I have been looking at Etsy on Wine Decor. What a huge industry. How do I compete with artists that drink wine?? They are so creative. Wine glass stem charms, rings for glasses. really. Oh they also have a "Clog wine bottle holder". https://www.etsy.com/listing/645382788/vintage-wooden-wine-holder-clog-bottle?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=wine+decor&ref=sr_gallery-35-14&frs=1&organic_search_click=1
  9. Last time I used this wood it sat around for a long time. Then I made this bowl..
  10. I am stumped for what is cool to make with this glue up. I was given some white oak slats that were used in vinyards wine vats for aging red wine. I trimmed the edges to 90 deg and made each slat parallel. Then glued them up. Final size 18"x20". I have not sanded them flat yet. Most are 5/16" thick some are 1/4" thick. If I do sand them, then the redness will be removed or washed out. It would be cool for some vinyard idea or a wine theme. I usually stay away from wall hanger art but I am open for all suggestions. I can get 2 or 3 pallets of these if I want to. It take some effort to trim and make these parallel. Me. Mark Eason
  11. Songs, jingle jangle jingle Clipity clop
  12. When I gave it to the restaurant the owner was not in. Waitresses were really busy. So they were going to give it to owner later. When I go back I will take a picture of it, unless she took it home. For wearable wooden cowboy boots I might need to go visit the old dutch makers and get some new methods. Maybe keep the wood wet so it is flexible.
  13. Yea.... your done. They look great. What next?
  14. Look pretty good. What kind of woods? I like the Barbara one the best.
  15. That is just in time for Memorial Day. I like all of them.
  16. Hi all, I saw a technique I wanted to try. So I made a cowboy boot. Can any shape be a vase? But first, I resisted the idea of having the title being.. "She got the boot". Ok so this is a cowboy boot DRY vase. Like for utensiles. The local restauraunt is called Country Rose. Her menus have cowboy hats and boots. She has lot of cowboy stuff on walls. So I gave the owner, Sharon, the cowboy boot vase. I put roses on each side of the boot. I decided not to have the roses the same color. Not a great painting job. I probably had too much coffee.
  17. Nice. You can hang a real railroad pocket watch from the picket fence.
  18. This is a picture story that shows how to make micro drawers using a scroll saw. These would be good for ornaments, small boxes, or gnome and troll doors. Step1 I chose some Easter shapes of a rabbit and an egg. I scaled pictures to be about 0.75 inches wide. I printed them out and used Super 77 spray glue to attach them to the wood. Step 2 From here we need to drill holes for blade access. I tried to place the drill holes in a position that can easily cover them up. I chose the top of the egg and the eyes for the rabbit. Step 3 Now I just cut the outlines of the shapes. I chose #7 skip blade. This wood was standard construction 1.75"x1.75" lumber. 7 inches tall. I wanted to show how I will cut the middle of the drawer so it can be accessed. I marked the area I will cut out with green ink. I wanted to keep the front and back shape. Step 4 The next picture shows the access area cut off. The rabbit is easily shown with the middle section cut out. The egg is sideways in the clamp to hold it level. Step 5 The next step is to cut the core out for the drawer cavity. I wanted to angle the blade so that the core can be used for the bottom. A 10-degree angle seemed to be a good guess. This is to prevent the bottom of the drawer from falling through the bottom. On the bunny piece on the left of the image you can see the green ink that will be cut out. So, I also drilled a 10-degree hole for blade access. Step 6 Here, I show the core cut out for both the rabbit and egg. See the angle of the drawer's sides? The core's bottom slice will eventually be cut off and discarded. The middle slice will be used as the drawer bottom. Lastly, the top slice will also be discarded. The green ink shows what will be waste. The non-green slice (middle slice) is the drawer bottom. Step 7 Here, I show to use the clamp to hold the angled wood 90-degrees to the blade, or close to it. The second picture, notice the first bottom slice missing. The next cut we will save for the bottom of the drawer. Step 8 Here, I showed the saved middle slices. This will be glued back in place for the bottom of the drawers. Step 9 Now let's put the drawers back into the holders. In the rabbit drawer, you can still see the drawer bottom. The second picture shows the front view of them. Step 10 I was not very clever about drawer handles. I just put short screws in the drill access holes. Then it was time to remove the pattern paper. Conclusion I hope this picture story shows how to make micro drawers. This last picture shows a different application for a micro drawer. It is a thick slice of wood ( 2.25" thick) carved Bobcat with a face as a micro drawer. I should have kept the ears as part of the drawer like I did the rabbit, though. I hope this inspires new ideas and applications!
  19. yep, Looks like like you took the age up a few notches.
  20. Wow 40 hours so far. At $20hr ... 10 hours per candle holder. The friends gotta be very good one. I hope they appriciate your work. I like your work. .. hint hint .
  21. All of us need to play Moon shadow, May 15th during the eclipse. Tomorrow.
  22. I like it. The peace train. World peace. oh that is the moon. Instead of smoke coming out of the stack you could make musical notes.
  23. here is a video how to check blade angle. Simple....
  24. I just cut 0.75" poplar using this technique. But it did not slide out of the top only slid out of the bottom. Motor speed was 30%. So I checked the squareness of the blade again. I was sure it was not going to square. But it was square. Using #1 MGT. Might change higher blade #5 next time. I need to practice this technique more. And watch this posting for better techniques. So as a write this up, I went and looked at the tight spots. It was the tightest on a very very straight cut that is about 4inches long. The second cut is loose enough to slide thru both ways. .
  25. nice.
