  1. I was just playing with black walnut, and I do were a respirator. Especially when using random orbit sander ROS. I also do it outside and have a big box fan on high. I noticed that is natural to take off mask respirator when I am done sanding. But I have to think about cleaning out sander and vacuum, keep the mask on. Me. Mark Eason.
  2. It is hanging up in the vets office.
  3. In the last few weeks "Space oddity" I have been listening to space.
  4. Oh yea that sponge painting tip would have helped alot.
  5. Oh wow, the white teeth and pink/red tongue did bring out the aggression. l
  6. Hi, I am Mark... I think I can help. I did a hollow football with changing angles on each slice. The football ends are 45 deg. The angles at the fattest part is close to 6 deg. On each slice, the wall thickness changes. Each slice outer edge matches the lower outer edge. Each slice inside edge matches lower inside edge. You start with out side cut angle. Then calculate the wall thickness. example... I wanted bottom cut of 45deg. Wood thickness is 3/4". Wall thickness 3/4" tan 45 = (wall thickness) / ( wood thk) wall thk = 0.75 * (tan 45)... wall thk = 0.75 2nd ring.... lets say we want 37 deg angle. wall thk= 0.75 * (tan 37) wall thk = 0.656. this means you offset the next cut ring by 0.656 inches. I will be glad to make you a inkscape pattern. Just sketch a vase profile and make dimensions of how high. Or I can send you a spreadsheet that will calculate angles of next slice. Now I have not figured out how to cut greater than 45 deg. But sanding is the key. Since this is in the wrong category lets finish this with personal messages.
  7. Hi all, I have been busy with actual work. Too many hours and have not done much in Scrollsaw stuff. I have a big project half done. But I wanted to cut something and get it done. A simple project. So I have I have a VET appointment for my cat Monday. So I can give them this Cat project. Total time about 7 hours. 4 hours of cutting, 3 hours of painting. This is my first layered project. @alexfox has a great handle on what makes a good layered project. Some small simple details adds quite a bit to the project but it keeps it simple. I can see I missed a couple of places for painting. But overall it is decent. The slots and holes in the birds adds the simple details. The slots for the curtains allows the depth for folds in the curtains. I like the layered concept. I left the backer off. I think that seeing thru it can work in different places. This picture shows it hanging on garage cabinents dark grey. The vet can put this in the window or set it on a desk to get the see thru look. Most of my cats are white but I wanted a bit more color on this project. So I attempted to color a calico. I might have got too many sections of color. So I will give this to the vet. He just opened up a second building for the wellness care. They probably could use some decorations to spruce up the office. All layers were done with 1/8" baltic birch plywood. Cut with 2/0 MGT pegas blades. Me. Mark Eason
  8. nice. is the wood emblem glued to picture only?
  9. good stuff. I also like the let it snow. pretty red and white. An idea for the last piece is to change the words... Let it pour.

  13. I like your roadrunner alot. great colors and nice pose. I can also see this done on a wooden tool tray. ACME tool tray. roadrunner on one end and Wyle on the other end. Of course holding scrow saw blades. Ok maybe an Acme tissue box. Just throwing ideas out. In no way take this as a distraction from this piece. Me Mark Eason
  14. some people call this the 3 finger salute.
  15. This looks like a functional project. Anything with hinges make it functional. Awesome looking project. Maybe straw holder? candy bowl.
  16. I like functional projects.. I have posted these earlier this year. This first picture shows me using it. Everytime I leave the house I put one of these on.
  17. maybe make un-official wooden coin made from scraps.? put small amount in a plastic bag to sell.
  18. interesting. it look like the back has 3 pieces. but only trees on ends are narrow. That puts the main center piece really long. I can think of 2 possible ways to do this 1) spiral blades is used OR 2) jig saw. Did you have another way? Me. Mark Eason
  19. @OCtoolguy quote "rub them with 220 sandpaper" I use a magnet (scrap with magnets) to hold a sandpaper to my rbi frame. I scratch the blade up a bit before clamping.
  20. well I have only had it about 10 days. My butt needs to re-adjust. It is harder that the wore out chair. This version is a quick adjust. Meaning you stand up to remove the weight off the lever. Then you can just pull the chair up. This version is 3 inches higher than the screw up/down chair. Also note this version of the chair does NOT swivel. The whole chair rotates on wheels. The screw up/Down version swivels. You can choose color variations of wheels , material, and steel. After some more time I will re-post and say yea or nea. what ever i am stuck with it. I might have to limit sit time to about 90 mintes. I put this chair on a floor mat so it does not roll out around. The wheels do roll really easy.
  21. that moon is excellent. looks like you used a picture. holloween is pretty close.
  22. vyper chair
  23. yep I understand the penny. Nice cutting, great idea with the penny and showing the back. Would have been worth more with this coin. Just a bit older.
  24. Warm welcome from California. I got the same machine 1.5 yrs ago. Some guy here @OCtoolguy helped me buy it. I had some entry level saw before but had struggles. I had never really tried the types of art. Intarsia, fretwork, puzzles. But when I did I found entry level just did not work for me. So I upgraded. Now I dont worry about the machine and I can focus on making stuff. The 26inch comes in handy. But this village has some really skilled people (elders and youngters) and they answered many of my questions. Even my stupid questions. I learned alot in 1.75 years.
  25. I am not afraid of doing the work. But expense was more money for foam and parts as a new cheapy drafting chair. Plus my wife made a decision before I could find and order parts or chair.
