  1. Amazing! Beautiful work, Peter.
  2. Well done, buddy.
  3. Most folks make or buy enclosures that have the proper colored view ports. I just wear glasses but I don't invite onlookers, either. To date, I've not actually cut anything. It's just engraving.
  4. Move to AZ.
  5. Love it, Bob. What are the dimensions?
  6. Much of my scroll saw work is really bad. The rest is worse. But, I keep plugging away.
  7. I sometimes....more often than I like... end up with fire pit ready stuff. But, usually, I just hang the unsatisfactory piece on the shop wall as a reminder.
  8. A good wipe down with Acetone will do the trick.
  9. I use it to stick wood patterns to wood stock for pattern routing. It holds well for that purpose. It's a bear to remove, though. After you peel off it's protective cover, what's left is the relatively thick adhesive. I have to roll it off the project piece with a thumb. It would be quite expensive to use it to hold paper scroll patterns. And, I'm not sure it wouldn't gum up a scroll saw blade.
  10. It was 1959 at Lackland for me. Airforce chow ain't half bad. Weighed 160 then. Put on 15 pounds in the 6 years of service. Now, at 82 I'm up to 240. My wife is a great cook. And, there's always a cake, pie, cookies and/or brownies to tempt me.
  11. Spinning it. Once the first one was out of the way, it wasn't too bad. Could use a smaller belly, though.
  12. You should be good using an LED bulb.
  13. I have an old executive chair with wheels. I rescued it from a dumpster. I built my SS stand so that it angles down in front so the table is at belly height when sitting in my chair. I've seen some videos of guys standing at their saw. As slow as I cut, and as old as I am, (82) my legs and back would kill me within 5 minutes of that. I use a Deadman foot switch velcroed to a piece of 2×4. Is Deadman the correct term? It requires constant pressure.
  14. I'm not competent to critique such awesome work. I can only say that it's a beautiful piece.
  15. Looks like you've got a good start for the sale. Good luck although your cuttings are so nice, you won't likely need luck.
  16. 500 miles would get me about another 500 away. IDK for sure, but don't think Menards has many locations west of the Mississippi.
  17. Totally amazing cuts. To my untrained eye, the colors are spot on.
  18. I'm in my 80s so nothing is fast, for me. I've been scrolling about a year...off and on. Staying on the line is an obsession for me. I use a 5 diopter, head mounted magnifier, run the saw at what I think is about half speed. Lately, I've been cutting out router templates in 1/2" BB for several different toys. Most are vehicles and, only 5"-6" long. All have cut outs for windows. I'd guess it takes me 30 minutes to cut each one. Longer if there are more windows, like a bus. My saw is a DW788, outfitted with the lift kit. That thing is a life saver!
  19. Having only used a DeWalt 788, my opinion might be biased but, it seems to be a decent, trouble free tool.
  20. Beautiful job cutting AND painting, Dick.
  21. My next Nativity scene WILL DEFINITELY include a rooster.
  22. A pinch of salt in Rit dye makes it color fast. Other than that, Rustolium is pretty uv resistant. We've had good luck with it on several projects that are continually exposed to our intense Arizona sun.
  23. Really neat, Dick. I'm sure it will be well received.
  24. I'll bet his cohorts would love a few.
