  1. Finished cutting this Cobra for my husband. Looking for a more detailed coiled cobra but this one is "similar" to the Shelby Cobra emblem, which is ok with him. Just waiting on some more Danish oil to give it a good drink. Almost finished with the roaring bear. Making this one for a Bear guard friend of ours. He spends his summer walking out it the woods with different scientist, biologist, geologist, etc, carrying a shot gun looking for danger. In case your curious, he has not had to kill a bear, but has seen many.
  2. Wow! Nice job on that resawing. Not sure I would have the guts to try that. LOL Beautiful pieces and great job on that pattern.
  3. I'll just say that my go to is Danish oil. I recently started using the Walnut Danish oil on a few projects and Love it!! But the good ole regular Danish oil is my favorite. I use it for dipping and wipe on/off.
  4. I just started really getting into it last year. Did my first fretwork pieces. I am so happy with all that I have done so far but these two are my top ones I suppose. The Cross was a Mother's Day gift. I thought it quite challenging with those many skinny cuts, but I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. My Mom LOVES it and shows it off often, which is my favorite part. The Dragon was a piece I thought would be really challenging. Come to find out it is just a bunch of cuts and not many difficult ones at that. This piece taught me to not be afraid of a pattern that looks tough, and just start cutting.
  5. That looks great!
  6. I do. I love watchin this guy work.
  7. Very nice. I just watched a video on YouTube of a guy building one of these using tools from way back. Old hand planers and chisels, etc.
  8. Thanks for the video and pics! Saved me from googling what you were all talking about. I need to try some of those. So far in my learning, it is all hand sanding with bits of sandpaper, an orbital sander, and/or little files. I have also used a torch to get the fuzzies off the back of my fretwork pieces.
  9. I love it. Thanks for making a tutorial. I'll be sure to check it out.
  10. Wow, some amazing looking ornaments ya'll! I see I need to up my game. Bravo!!
  11. That is very sweet. I love it - and so will she, guaranteed. Nice cutting too!
  12. Oh wow! I adore those cats! Nice job on all of it. Wish I was on your Christmas list.
  13. Huh, I need to think outside the box more.....
  14. Ditto with @Scrappile. And I love it by the way. Very unique.
  15. I like that a lot. I agree it does look like a fun project.
  16. Love them. Really like the wood chosen for you scroll sawed pieces. Bird on a wire is my favorite.
  17. Fantastic! You have a lot of pieces there. Congrats!
  18. I join a local small town holiday merchantile every year. It is only open Nov and Dec. Everything is made by locals and the vendors are required to work 2 days running the store - my 2 days are today and tomorrow. The owner only takes 10% of sales to fund the operating costs. This year I am for the first time putting up some scroll saw items. I only have some ornaments made, but am happy to see 8 of them (out of 17) sold in 4 days. That is pretty good! I mainly make beaded jewelry and sometimes salves. This year I added some crochet items and beaded spiders. I don't make a killing but it is a fun place to try and sell my hobbies with the rest of the locals.
  19. @RabidAlien True! lol This is a Sue Mey pattern.
  20. Thank you. I cut the flower and the larger veining near the flower with a spiral, but switched over to a straight blade for the rest. Not perfect when you give it the "serious eye", but from a viewing distance it all disappears. Nice how that works out. LOL
  21. Took me a while, but added a backer, stained, and clear coat sprayed on (by my husband) and now in a box headed south for my Mom. I love how it turned out!
  22. Oooo I love this so much! I am also anxious to see it finished!!
  23. I'm learning to let the imperfections go. We are human and not machine. Little imperfections guarantee it was handmade with time and effort which is something to be proud of. Your piece looks great and just know, no one will critique it like you will.
  24. Beautiful! I absolutely love spalted wood.
