Some of us are just a little slow to post to it (but months not years ). I kept meaning too, but would always forget to look through my photos of projects. When Jim added his, I had some time to look so added a few of mine I could track down. Humm, I must be seeing things again. Some where I saw a post and would swear it had a date of 2019. Well you will have to forgive me, please. I get a little scrambled sometime and a whole lot scrambled other times. Like I keep telling my wife,, you just have to work with me to keep me straight. meflick 1 Quote

Heh. Top of page 3, Barb Enders commented on Jan 19, and after seeing your previous post I totally read that as "Month Year". No worries!! Coffee and sawdust help put things back into order. No worries Paul, we are all here to try to keep us all straight aren’t we? Besides, it is not that uncommon for an old thread to suddenly get bumped up after laying dormant for a long time, then others start replying on it. So much so that I have learned (as it seems you have) to start looking at dates before replying. it was probably like RabidAllen noted and a simple glance at a date on another post from a day of 19. jimmyG Posted August 23, 2023 Report Posted August 23, 2023 Just bought a Dewalt DW788 scroll saw. Been trying to learn woodworking since I retired last year. Was kinda proud of my first attempt. JackJones, Wichman, Fab4 and 5 others 8 Quote
Travis Posted March 4 Author Report Posted March 4 Today, we got the sad news that Steve Good, our friend and fellow scroller, has passed away. You can read about that here. Steve was such an influential contributor to the scroll saw community, with over 5,000 free scroll saw patterns. He was generous with his time, knowledge, and talent. Back in January, 2023, we had a scroll saw challenge that celebrated Steve's patterns. Folks posted projects that he designed and it was a lot of fun to see. So for this month's scroll saw challenge, I'm going to do something that I haven't done before...I'm gunna reopen a past scroll saw challenge. But this time, instead of sharing a project you've already cut, go to his website and download a new pattern you've always wanted to try. And this month, as a remembrance of his generosity and friendship, take some time and cut one of his patterns and post the results here. You can find his entire catalog here: https://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/index.php While you're at it, go back to the first page of this thread, and look at what folks posted in January 2023. Wichman Posted March 5 Report Posted March 5 I downloaded this pattern yesterday and cut it out last night. When I took a break and logged on I saw the news about Steve. I will be posting more. RabidAlien, Travis, JackJones and 3 others 6 Quote

Popular Post ChelCass Posted March 5 Popular Post Report Posted March 5 Like many here I have cut a bunch of Steve's patterns. Every Christmas Steve would do Christmas Ornaments and add what name you wanted. A couple of years ago I was teasing Steve and told him that people don't just have cats and dogs as pets. I said I had Chickens and being the Smarty Pants, he was he made me a Chicken (rooster) Christmas Ornament and wouldn't charge me for it. He was just that kind of guy. Oh, how I will miss him. PS> with my vision be as it is I do very little cutting till after my cataract surgery, Wichman, wombatie, MarieC and 10 others 13 Quote
Popular Post MarieC Posted March 6 Popular Post Report Posted March 6 I decided to purchase and download the entire catalog of Steve's (took a couple of times). He had a couple patterns I really liked but I had to simplify it because I will be using it in my next scroll saw class. I have always promoted his work and website to all my students. This one is out of a 2x4 and some walnut. I purchased the wheels, etc. barb.j.enders, RabidAlien, ChelCass and 11 others 14 Quote

Popular Post Wichman Posted March 9 Popular Post Report Posted March 9 (edited) In keeping with my updating my table saw safety gear, here is a push stick from Steve's collection: I didn't have any 1/4: plywood for the center so I laminated two, 1/8" pieces. The side handles are 5/16" Elm. Edited March 9 by Wichman Aaron K5ATG, Scrappile, JackJones and 7 others 10 Quote
Popular Post rafairchild2 Posted March 10 Popular Post Report Posted March 10 Steve was amazing, all around great guy, humble and generous with his time, knowledge and skill. I hope there will be someone who can pick up his mantle. Losing Judy first, and now Steve is heart breaking and a double blow to the scrolling community in the last year. Steve's prolific work inspired me to start designing my own pieces, but this one from Steve I have on the wall of my workshop. Scrappile, Wichman, RabidAlien and 10 others 13 Quote
Popular Post scrollerpete Posted March 11 Popular Post Report Posted March 11 I downloaded this trivet and Steve mentioned on the pattern that it might be possible to use epoxy. Too late now to tell him that it was possible but maybe he still reads this site. jerry walters, Scrappile, JackJones and 11 others 14 Quote

Popular Post Archer Posted March 21 Popular Post Report Posted March 21 I cut a lot of Steve Good patterns. The top photo is what I'm currently working on, I believe the pattern is called Triptych Horses or something similar. I am cutting it from silky oak. The other two photos are magnets I made a while ago, using Steve Good designs as a base. RIP Steve. meflick, Fab4, jerry walters and 7 others 10 Quote

Popular Post barb.j.enders Posted March 29 Popular Post Report Posted March 29 Went back through some of the things I have cut in the past. Did these shelf sitters on Friday. Popular Post Scrappile Posted March 29 Popular Post Report Posted March 29 (edited) Right after the sad announcement about Steve, my wife broke a case she used in the kitchen to hold her wooden utensils in. So I decided to make something to replace it. Found this Steve pattern I had downloaded years ago. It is not quite fininshed, I have to do more sanding and apply finish but I wanted to post it before this thread was done. I sure miss the daily email from scroll saw workshop.
