  1. I have found over the years that you need to make sure your glass is warm. Cold glass will shatter and/or splinter. I also have the oil glass cutters along with a glass saw and grinder. I find these three tools make glass cutting much easier.
  2. What a wonderful Christmas surprise. Congrats on the upcoming event.
  3. Excellent painting. You did just enough. Remember you can also use acrylic paint watered down to get a stain like effect.
  4. Welcome to the Village. A lot of great people here who are always willing to lend a helping hand. Any questions just ask. Be sure to check out the pattern library for some great patterns.
  5. Here's a thought for Christmas's to come: Grinch, Max(the dog), Cind Lou Who, and all the main characters, Ralph and *the Lamp* , Scrooge, Snoopy and Charlie Brown's tree. I can think of a ton more. Don't forget Rudolph and his shiny nose. Fab 4 (Paul) did all 8 plus 1 ornament patterns of Santa's Reindeer. You could do one each year. I did them last year and love them. Here's a picture. You will find them in the Ornaments for Charity book for last year.
  6. FYI, The Gnome Flasher is a stained glass pattern.
  7. Totally love this. Thanks for sharing.
  8. I make a lot of ornaments fo our stainless steel refrigerator. I buy my magnets at Walmart. They have 3 different sizes. I find all three sizes work depending on the weight of the ornament.
  9. They look beautiful as it. If you choose to paint the wreath, just paint the outline and use a subdue red so it blends in but also stand out softly.
  10. Ken for clock patterns check out our pattern library under Utilitarian. Several to choose from, also check Steve Good's site he has several patterns as well.
  11. Steve Good also has a few marine patterns, one is the emblem, another is Marine veteran plus a third one with the emblem in a circle which would make a nice clock plus a few more.. I remember Sylvia, she was in the same group I was in. I'm sure I have several of her patterns. Would have to go thru all of my CD's to find them.
  12. I had lake front property in the Upper and would find, driftwood, sea glass and lots of tiny shells. Lake Michigan was a 20 minute drive and found a ton of awesome driftwood. Even have a box of Petoskey stones my nephew found.
  13. Steve has it under Santachimmney.
  14. Plain (non pinned) blades are what you want. They can fit into the tiniest holes. A pinned blade will not fit into a lot of holes on your patterns. I have heard good things about the new Bauer saw. A couple of our members have one so they could give you more information. Welcome to the Village. Any questions just ask, someone will help you out.
  15. I love both as well. Each has its own challenges. I find doing stained glass easier for me as I have done it for years. I would love to see each with light behind them to get a better idea of how they each would look with the light.
  16. Each year I do a Marine ornament for Hubby and this is this year's orn. I did not put a backer on the bell itself as he preferred it without. The bell outline I will do in blue.
  17. Great cutting. Yep those hair lines would be *hold your breath lines*.
  18. Welcome to the Village. I have the heard the Bauer 22 is a pretty good saw. One of our other members has one and so far he likes it. Be sure to check out all the patterns in the library. Any questions just ask away someone with help you.
  19. Welcome back, sorry to hear about your parents. Lots of new folks joined and a lot of the oldsters still here. Lots of new patterns to check out. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.
  20. Great cutting Marg , Thanks for sharing.
  21. The one thing that caught my attention was the built in wrench for changing the blade. Something to consider.
  22. I have the new Wen and have had no issues with it. The blades are quick and easy to change. It also has the lift arm. I have had it for almost 2 years and really like it. I stopped by Harbor Freight yesterday and they have the Bauer Saw on the shelf. It is a large heavy machine. I don't believe the table is large as the one on the Wen. It was on the top shelf so I really couldn't really look it over all that well. Steve Good has a video demonstrating the Wen you might want to check that out. I think he said he had a Bauer but hasn't had a chance to check it out as of yet. You could send him a e-mail and ask him if he has had a chance to look the Bauer over.
  23. Love it, especially the *stupid*......................lol
  24. Very nice. Now if you can keep people from stealing it!
  25. I'm sorry! I can't hold my breath that long. This is one awesome cutting. It would take me a month to try and cut this. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
