Welcome to The Village from Southern Arizona. I sure enjoy your work. I have not seen this type of scrolling before. Hope to see you logging in often so we can all get to know you better and you, us Dick heppnerguy

Welcome to The Village. A lot of free patterns to download and cut here, help yourself. be sure and post your projects as you finish them. We can help you in almost any question you may have, you just need to ask. Be sure to post and reply to others, as that is how we get to know one another. I lived in NC for almost 3 years, as I was stationed in Fort Bragg. The southern humidity was the most difficult part to adjust to. I now live in Arizona and the extreme heat is easier to live with then the humidity was, for me. Hope to see you posting here often. Dick heppnerguy

Welcome to The Village. If I was to give someone the most important piece of information for someone just starting in scrolling, it would be 'Blades'. Not sure what you are currently using but if it is from the big box stores that you get them, you need to go on line and buy them there. Home Depot and such just do not carry what you really need. Glad to have you on board. I hope you log on often and post comments to other's work, as well. posting is what brings you into the family and really soon, you will feel that you already know them. From Sunny and warm (115 degrees F.) today, WELCCOME Dick heppnerguy

Oh, how nice. I did get to spend some time with Scrappile and we enjoyed a nice talk together. He is in good health and always in a friendly mood. I was planning on spending one more day while I was up in Oregon but it did not work out. Dick heppnerguy

I have been away from home for a couple of months, so I am way behind here in The Village. I would never find the time needed to make comments on every piece here so i just 'liked' them and after I get back in the groove I hope to be able to have the time to make comments, as I love looking at everyone's projects and this month was a winner, in deed. So to sum things up, "Everyone's projects are lots of fun and well cut. I sure enjoyed looking through them. So glad to be a part of this group" Dick heppnerguy

You certainly have taken these car clocks to a new level as you continue to add more of them to your list of projects. Always fun to check out your posts and see which new car has hit your list. Dick heppnerguy

Oh i will indeed let him know how people are wondering how he is doing. Paul and I have become really good friends and I am so glad my wife and I called them and met them for lunch when we did. Paul and I chat a lot on the phone and I always try to go see him when we are in Oregon, which is at least a couple of times a year. This is the very reason I always try to suggest that others take the time to go meet different members who might be only a couple of hours of driving time to do so. You never know when you might just meet a person as wonderful as my friend Paul Dick heppnerguy

I phoned Paul a couple of weeks ago and he is fine and healthy. He has taken some time off from scrolling to get his property all in shape from the winter. I will be going to his house in 2 or 3 weeks for another visit with him. I told him he was missed here in The Village. No need to worry about him. Dick heppnerguy

I really did not have to help you much with your clock. You did a great job on it and I am sure you receive a lot of OOOWS and Awwes when people see it. My hat is off to you Dick heppnerguy

a very impressive clock. They are a challenge and always draw a lot of comments. I tried a wooden gear clock when i first started scrolling but I could never get it to run. With these clocks one does not have to worry about that. Thank you Clive for posting it. I was really anxious to see what you did when you mentioned you loved doing clocks. They go from quite detailed to a rather simple piece so I can see you do not go for the simple ones. Dick heppnerguy

nice little box. I have made several boxes myself and always find them to be a satisfying project. Your box can not only become something useful but also decorative at the same time. I always enjoy your projects Dick heppnerguy

Nice work. It is a rather intriguing pattern and instantly catches ones eye. I can see why they sold so well. Thanks for posting Dick heppnerguy

you can sand the inserts of the set screws,,,,,,tighten the thumb screw as much as you can.....but the truth of the matter is, this indicates it is time to replace the inserts of the set screws and thumb screws. Sanding the tips can help sometimes and even the blade ends but changing the inserts makes your saw like new again. The biggest problem with the above efforts is by having to apply more pressure to the thumb screw will eventually cause one or two problems or both. You will eventually wear out the threads on the set screw and have to replace it or you will cause the blade clamp to stretch and then the tips are no longer parallel and hence the little insert is only able to connect it's holding surface in part and the blade slips. Steve Good suggests that the inserts be replaced about 2 to 3 times a year depending on how often you use your saw. By making this change on a regular basis the clamp with not get stretched out of alignment, and the threads will not get warn and wobbly. Try it, I think you will be pleasantly surprised if you do. I believe that nickle was still standing on edge on your saw table when we had our visit a couple of weeks ago. You should be back in Mesa now and I hope you have some air conditioning where you are working as it is getting pretty dang hot down here now. Enjoyed our visit and getting to meet you and see your fabulous scroll work Dick heppnerguy -
Do you have something in mind for the fret patterns. Also have you browsed our pattern library. If you have something particular in mind it would be helpful in directing you to something you may enjoy doing. I hope this helps you. A little more information can speed things along for you Dick heppnerguy

Welcome to The Village from Southern Arizona where the daily temperatures are running from 106 to 115 degrees. I guess summer is here now. You mentioned that you were looking for the pattern tutorials and you will find a forum if you scroll down the forum list and see the tutorial forum. Our lustrous leader, Travis Cook has taken his time and helped many with tutorials for Inkscape and GIMP that start at the beginning of these programs and leads you onward until you are comfortable making patterns for yourself. If you decide pattern making really isn't in you liking, you can simple request a pattern in the "pattern request" forum and someone will be happy to try and make a pattern for you. If you are taking a pattern tutorial lesson and get lost, all you have to do is leave a text with your problem and Travis will get back to you and help you figure it out. Glad you are here with us Dick heppnerguy

Welcome to our family from Southern Arizona. Hope to see you around often in The Village. You probably have noticed by now that we have other people here from the UK and in fact pretty much all over the world. We are all friendly and helpful so you just might wish to share some of your 20 years of scroll saw knowledge with us as well. Be sure and check out our library as there are many patterns posted there by our members. You are free to download and make any that might catch your interest. Dick heppnerguy

Welcome to THE VILLAGE. You should soon learn there are a lot of talented and experienced people here and all are friendly and helpful. So glad you found us and joined our group. The secret here is to log on often, share your work and comments on others and before you know it , you will feel like you have known the regulars here for a long time. If you do have any patterns you might like someone to help you with or are looking for some nice free patterns we have a lot of them posted here to download and print out for free. A little note, I have a granddaughter and her family also living in Puyallup and and we will be traveling to Oregon and hopefully up to Puyallup in a month or so ourselves to get away from the heat here in Southern Arizona.
