  1. Is this pattern made from another record album ? Love your patterns and work Dick heppnerguy
  2. Jim, your boxers would sell anywhere no matter what you put on the lid.
  3. Fooled me. I sure thought it was another album piece. Stands out well with the painted surface Dick heppnerguy
  4. Nice table. Not giving up on something that seems too difficult turned out to be something you already had mastered as a high school student. Glad you did not sell yourself short. You had the perfect answer right inn your own living room. Looks like it is going to be a great piece for your client to treasure for years to come Dick heppnerguy
  5. The added colorization really made this pop. Like it a lot with the added interest to this one Dick heppnerguy
  6. Interest work. They should be something anyone would like to have in their entertainment or TV room. Nice pieces Dick heppnerguy
  7. Dave, I am confident that if you gave intarsia a try, you would not only enjoy it but I know you would do a terrific job. This is an easy prediction, being the fabulous job you do with your scrolling items Dick heppnerguy
  8. Nice of you to make this for her. Gifting is the best part of scrolling in my mind Dick heppnerguy
  9. Intarsia is really easier then scrolling. No inside cuts or small fret work. I hope more of you will give it a try Dick heppnerguy
  10. It looks really good.. a loose blade or too small of a blade can cause the difference in the top and bottom of a piece. Take is slow and let the blade determine the cutting speed not your desires. also, the hardness of the wood grains can take your blade off course, especially if the tention and blade size are not correct for the piece Dick heppnerguy
  11. Play with it while you can. I think you are ready to make a wooden gear clock now. Dick heppnerguy
  12. Ralph,, Ralph..Ralph... How am I going to pretend I know what I am doing if I have to add all this stuff too????When I add the predrilling, to it, then I have to add three additional days... I can't let myself admit to those additional time frames..so I won't. Let me live in my own little world, won't you Ralph.. I thought we were friends Dick heppnerguy
  13. Kevin, you are the "NAME" guy for sure Dick heppnerguy
  14. The practice piece shown in the enclosed link is a great idea. I hope you,( Brady), take advantage of it. Don't take this as criticism, because I believe you did a fine job with your piece it is just, these pattern will give you a lot practice and you would be cutting a lot angles that might be not be cut very often in your first cuttings, but when they do finally come along, you may have already mastered them. Keep up the good work and thanks for your service to our country Dick heppnerguy
  15. As a life time citizen of the great state of Oregon, I never pay sales tax, unless I am in another state. That being said, just one reason I love living here. I do pay my IRS taxes but I do try to take all the deductions I have coming. It does get more difficult to want to pay them when the government wastes so much of my hard earned money in such stupid ways. First they took away most of our write offs which includes now having to pay taxes on the money we are forced to spend on other taxes. Taxing the taxes is wrong but they make it a way of life. Then to top all that off, they take our Social Security money, which by the way was not theirs to take and use as they like. Then when an honest person try's to keep a little of what they earned, one is threatened with jail. My question is who is the criminal here? WHOA, TIME TO GET OFF MY HIGH HORSE Dick heppnerguy
  16. I have an import band saw I got in 1980 and it has given me no problems at all so I am hoping that you have as much success with your new saw as I have had with mine. It is always exciting to get a new tool. Many happy cutting ahead. Dick heppnerguy
  17. The backer was a tough one. I sort of traced the pattern onto a piece of 1/4 in BB Ply. then cut it, placed the plaque on it, recut again. glued on the pieces and then recut once more.. It was not an easy thing but I ended up getting it done Dick heppnerguy
  18. Well I finally finished the Marine Corp symbol plaque that I was making as a request for a friend who retired from the marines last summer and now has two of his friends also retiring in a couple of months. So I go back on line, looked up the symbol and made a new pattern for it. I think they should like it. It is made of black walnut, Alder, Juniper, and pine. It is an honor to have something I have made be a gift for someone that has given so much for our country. For any one that might wish to have the pattern, I will post it in the "New Patterns" forum Dick heppnerguy
  19. Johnny Cash is a world known country singer and this pattern is a great likeness of him..You did a very good job cutting it. You mom should really love it Dick heppnerguy
  20. This butterfly in hand is a Steve Good pattern that he posted last week and as I was waiting for some finish to dry on another piece, I came into the house and printed out the pattern, Ralph made a comment to me about the time it was going to take me to cut this one so I decided to time my cutting. I do not do that very often and i thought I would be approximately what I guessed it would take. There are a few more holes in the pattern than I thought there were but none of them were a difficult cut. My cutting time was 1 hour and 36 minutes. it was an easy cut but appeared that it might be a little more challenging than it actually was. Dick heppnerguy
  21. you might get hooked into making them for your friends, with them swimming around your car and attracting the attention of others Dick heppnerguy
  22. Your skull is very artistic with the mosaic touch, I nice, unique idea ... well done too Dick heppnerguy
  23. I wish I had the ability to paint like your wife has. Those clocks grab your attention and make one want to take a closer look at them. Good work figuring out the pattern problem and the fix. they look great Dick heppnerguy
  24. nice job. Keep at it and remember to post more of your work as you go... that must have kept your wood turning as you made those cuts.. Dick heppnerguy
  25. When I first started out, I would buy the lessor expensive woods just because I did not want to wrap a lot of money into something that I was learning on. It does not take long to discover that the wood really is not that expensive and when you are making something for someone, you quickly find that the nicer the piece is, the sooner you will get requests for something they want to purchase. Baltic Birch really is not that much more but the difference is worth it. 1/4 inch thick ply is also easier to cut than 1/8 th inch, so why make things difficult for yourself? Good luck. Scrolling is a continual learning experience Dick heppnerguy
