  1. I really like all your little critters. You did an absolutely great job on painting, cutting and finishing for all of these. They are outstanding. Dick heppnerguy
  2. beautiful job on this fret project. It is outstanding Dick heppnerguy
  3. I often cut things becasue they appeal to someone else or I would not have wanted to bother with them. then, sometimes something is a little different and catches my eye and I just have to cut it for no particular reason. Everyone has their own tastes and some like puzzles and toys. I have done both and am finding out that the toys, which I really do not like much myself, happen to turn out to be some of the items I enjoy most to make and the receivers seem to like them a lot, even if I am not too crazy about them myself. Dick heppnerguy
  4. Oh that came out really nicely. I really like the contrast in the backer board. good workmanship all the way around Dick heppnerguy
  5. Always interesting to see what you will come up with next. These are very special as are all your projects. Thanks for posting. Dick heppnerguy
  6. Barb, Nice projects and glad you are reaching out of your comfort zone. We need to do that every once in awhile to find out that we can do things we looked at as impossible and stayed away from. Dick heppnerguy
  7. fun gifts to make and to give. They obviously have kept you quite busy lately. Christmas is over but birthdays start rolling around quickly now. Keep up the fun projects. Dick heppnerguy
  8. Welcome to The Village. Glad your chose to us to mate up with. We are a friendly and welcoming group and I hope you log on and post often. That is the best way to get to know the regulars and even the not so regulars here Dick heppnerguy
  9. A big welcome from sunny Southern Arizona. Glad you are with us and I will definitely go check out your page as i sounds like it should be very interesting indeed. I would also enjoy seeing a photo of your old scroll saw machine. Hope you stick around here a lot and post some of your work here also Dick heppnerguy
  10. I believe this is a Sam Custodio pattern, if I am not mistaken. Dick heppnerguy
  11. Those are really great projects. Well done and much more meaningful than store bought items, for sure. You and your wife's work is something the kids will appreciate even into their adult hood. If they do not hang on to these pieces as they get older, they will still enjoy showing the photos of these items to their own children and telling them how their grandparents made these for them.. 12. Welcome to The Village from southern Arizona. I was born and lived there all my life until I moved to Arizona four years ago. I am very familiar with Myrtlewood but have never tried it with scrolling. Hope you give us a little more information about yourself and post some of your work for us to see in the 'bragging' forum. It just is a place to share what you are doing and it is has nothing to do with your skill level, rather just helps others to get ideas and enjoy your work with you. If you are just starting out or have been scrolling for years, we love to see what you do. when I was beginning I was a little embarrassed to let others see my struggles but soon learned that everyone started from the beginning and after I first posted, I also found out that no one was putting me down or criticizing my work but were only supportive. Log on often and share your work and get involved. Soon you will feel very comfortable with everyone and you might find it is the first place you go to on your computer. Dick heppnerguy
  13. Welcome to The Village. The above replies are correct. They are not putting you down but rather trying to help you to understand how to get help in the quickest way and help you to understand the how the different forums are designed to be the most helpful to you and others. Nice to have you on board and I sure hope you find the answers to your saw problem. You have a great saw and I hope you continue to enjoy your hobby. Come back often and we all can get to know you better and you, us. Dick heppnerguy
  14. I also wish to welcome you to The Village. Scrolling is an always learning situation and skills come about with practice. Everyone has something to give to others. Sometimes someone asks a question about a struggle they are trying to understand and 'bingo' the answers come and explains something in a different way by someone and we might learn something new about making our lives on the scroll saw a little easier for us, even if we have been scrolling for years. So share your ways when a question comes up that you believe is something that might help someone else, or ask any question and see how others have solved the very difficulty that you might be having. The main thing is to get involved at any level and soon you will start to understand that the people here consider other members to be their friends and eventually 'family'. So log on often and share your work. If you still have the first piece you cut on your saw, save it and use it to understand better, how far you have come in your hobby. So happy you choose to become a member on here. Be sure and explore all the nooks and crannies and see all the information that is waiting for you to discover. Dick heppnerguy
  15. I have never tried to add lights to anything I have ever made but i do enjoy seeing others do that and it add so much to a piece. Nice project
  16. It will probably be next summer some time. I will try to get in touch before I get there. Dick
  17. I cut two of these for son in laws. they both enjoy their beer and it is difficult to not see an open one in their hand at any time. Luckily they don't ever get obnoxious or irritating in any way when they are drinking but when I saw this Steve Good pattern, I just knew I had to cut one for each of them. The other one I cut with an orange background, just so they would not be exactly the same. I cut both of them from BB Ply was surprised that they did not take more time to cut as the font of the letters is fairly delicate but I was happy with the way they turned out, and I hope they like them as much as I enjoyed making them. Dick heppnerguy
  18. Frank, you really nailed this one and made it almost real in appearance. Extremely interesting the way you change it to an oval as it really does a lot of the project Dick heppnerguy
  19. Very clean and meaningful crosses. I like the way they came out. Dick heppnerguy
  20. I love cartoon creations so I really enjoy what you are doing. I don't do many cartoon things myself because all my grandkids and great grands grew up watching cartoons that never had much meaning to me so they don't seem to be very interested in the old great cartoons I always watched and loved. Nice assortment of fun cars, indeed Dick heppnerguy
  21. Those are truly cool. What an honor they have given you on the tree. Very creative and well done Dick heppnerguy
  22. I really love every one of your projects. they are so nicely done and the way you went about finishing them takes them for GREAT to FABULOUS. Dick heppnerguy
  23. You have truly turned what you love to do into a thriving business for yourself. A great presentation as always. It is no wonder that you do so well. Dick heppnerguy
  24. I started my scrolling adventure with intarsia and did it for several years. They are always the most admired works by others who see them. I remember how I could not believe my eyes when I saw a gal with a booth of intarsia dogs for sale. "How can anyone do something as cool as that?", I asked myself. A couple of years later I found out not only how it was done but also that I too could do this unbelievable art. Nice job on you projects. Keep posting them as you complete them. and Welcome to The Village from Southern Arizona. Dick heppnerguy
  25. Scott. Great ideas. People really like things that are personal, a lot. Dick heppnerguy
