  11. Paul, You can't loose if you are doing something for Patti that will make her sewing a little nicer. You always do such great work. I love to see your posts and the new things you have in your basement, every time I visit with you. Dick heppnerguy
  12. thank you for the nice compliment. I appreciate it a lot Dick heppnerguy
  13. Thank for the nice words of encouragement on my project. She did like it a lot and immediately hung in on our bedroom wall. Sharon is continuing to do better but sometimes pushes things and has a set back from it. Sh has a doctor appointment the first of next week so we will see what he says about things. Dick
  14. Thanks Paul. I might go to the wood store tomorrow and check it out in this location. I was thinking about a 2 X 6 Redwood board. Do you think that would work? Dick
  15. Thank you. I need to find some wood for the rest of the set first, so I can start the other side of the board pieces Dick heppnerguy
  16. Thank you for your comments and especially for the question on Sharon. She is still recovering but starting to push herself a little more than I want her to. Progress, never the less, that is all good. Dick heppnerguy
  17. My too. I have done some compound cuts before but it seemed they were always somewhat of a problem. now I am able to make them without much problem, so far, I think it has to do with the blades I am using now. Dick heppnerguy
  18. I love the game also but I was never really good at it. I loose a lot of the time but if I play a game that I felt was a good one for me, I am a happy camper and a good looser anyway Dick heppnerguy
  19. I just hope they turn out well enough for both my son and myself to be happy with them. If not, my son will probably use them on occasion, after I have left this world and say, " my dad made them for me". That would make it all worthwhile. Dick heppnerguy
  20. Not sure how I am going to finish them yet, I guess I need to get them all cut first. Looking at finding another wood for the dark pieces. Dick heppnerguy
  21. I will post them when I finish. I have other items I will also be cutting along the way, as I think I have plenty of time to get this one finished in time. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Paul, Sounds like a good plan to me. Glad to hear that Patti is getting out a little more. I would have loved to go to the wood show with you, that would have been interesting to me too. I know your chess pieces will be a lot better then mine but it is a rather fun cut and not near as challenging as I imagined they would be. Hey, any ideas where I might find some 1 3/4 wood by 6 X 12 ? Dick heppnerguy
  23. I am in the middle of a new project I am making for my son for Christmas. I have the white pieces cut and looking for wood for the black ones. I choose to put this photo up to show you how I made the decision to go ahead and try to make this chess set. You can see that one of the Knights is smaller then the other one. I cut it first to see if I could do it with all the turns and in and outs on the different ones. I know that bigger is easier and found I could handle it OK and proceeded. The taller one is the size I am making for him. The pieces were designed by John A. Flaig and are obviously compound cuts. I am using a piece of wood I have had for several years and never got around to using it. Not sure of the tree it came from but I believe it was retrieved from a saw mill that cut the trees for paper making. I have found the project to be easier to cut then I anticipated. The smaller piece is just under 2 inches Dick heppnerguy
  24. Appreciate your condolences for Sharon. I will let her know you sent them, thank you also for the comment on my project, I appreciate that also Dick heppnerguy
  25. Paul, Glad to see you got this one cut. I know you have been on it for awhile and it came out like all your other projects, beautifully done. Dick heppnerguy
