  1. Tod, Welcome to the forum. I also live in Arizona and I sent you a person message. Welcome to The Village. You have chosen a great place to enjoy by becoming a member here. The people who frequently visit here, are all very friendly and helpful and are always willing to help anyone with a question regarding scrolling or other wood working questions. I would encourage you to log on often so you can become more familiar with our page and the people here and we can get to know you better as well. Contributing comments is a great way to get to know others here and be sure to check out all the forums and pattern library where you can download and cut many patterns for free. Dick heppnerguy
  2. Very nicely done. Botas makes a lot of really fun patterns. I have quite a few of them myself and I love cutting them because they always get such nice comments from those that view them Dick heppnerguy
  3. You keep coming up with patterns that I enjoy so much and I have so much I need and want to do that I can not get to yours but I keep thinking more and more about making more of your patterns, so I am sure you will be receiving another pattern order from me before too long Dick heppnerguy
  4. First time I have seen this project done in this manner. I really like it when I see something done a little different then I am used to seeing it because, I myself, am not a very creative person and most often can not even imagine changing the way I see something done, so when someone like you have that idea, I have an opportunity to learn something new to maybe try myself. Uniqueness is a really blessing in my eyes and you scored high with this project, in my book. Thank you for your art and for posting it for us to view as well Dick heppnerguy
  5. Art is what someone does and how the artist prefers it to become in the final stages. An example is, Andy Warhahl (sp) who painted a Campbell soup can label on canvas. I remember how I thought it was a rather stupid thing to paint a picture of, but that and other things he chose to paint made him famous. Some apparently liked it and others, like myself, thought it to be a rather dumb and otherwise useless waste of paint and time. So, now when someone finishes an project that is a little different then the usual, I see it as an expression of taste and a new or different art form from what I might be expecting. One can learn from anyone, if they keep and open mind and a closed mouth. That said, I also, personally, enjoy hearing negative comments on my finished pieces, if they are viewed in a way, as a suggestion that someone else has that is different from mine and I can then see it as something helpful, rather than a put down. It all depends on how it is written. I furthermore do not appreciate someone that states a criticism in such a way that is only put down, like "that is the stupidest looking project I have ever seen'. Those kind of comments have no place in The Village or on any site, in my opinion. Dick heppnerguy
  6. I would have never thought to make an oval pattern in this way. I love that one can always be learning knew things because others are so willing to share what they have learned, here in The Village. As usual, your workmanship is superb and a great encouragement for myself to continue to try and do a little better with my scrolling work. I love all the castles one can encounter on a visit to Germany, as I have also made. Here in American, castles are just make believe buildings for Kings and Queens in make believe stories and don't often seem like the real things that embrace Europe, so vastly. Another great piece of beauty that could make your house a museum, if you chose to open it to the public. Thanks for posting it for all to enjoy Dick heppnerguy
  7. it is very interesting how it looks from different angles. One needs to be looking at it from the correct angle to see the 3d effect it is designed to reflect. i love those patterns but have only cut a couple of them, so far Dick heppnerguy
  8. ,Bob nice to Ser your up to cutting something as time consuming and delicate as this project. Very nicely done. I love this pattern and may get around to cutting that one also, after I get back home in September
  9. Your Dremel should have collars that will is small enough to hold the very smallest of drill bots. If no, you can purchase a set of them at the big box stores or Amazon for under $6
  10. I have not had that problem before as I don't mess much with the preset settings. But if I ever do what you did by mistake, I now know what to do about it. thanks for sharing.
  11. Of all the early Vets, the older small ones have always been my favorite models too. As they got larger, I thought they Los a lot of their appeal. I know most car fans would not agree with me but that is what makes life interesting. Another beautiful car to add to your unique a d interesting wall

  14. The problem with DeWalt clamps is mainly due to people their clamps letting the blades slip and treating the problem in the wrong way by dancing the tips of the clamps. It does make them temporarily hold better but it is a mask for the problem and eventually costs them unnecessary money, when they are faced with the need to buy new clamps. The reason is , they need to continue to then the clamps and dancing them in order to keep tension on he blades. If however, the inserts were replaced instead, the clamps would function as new. The clamps spread and are no longer at the 90 degrees, causing a small gap between the inserts in the clamps and the blade itself. Tus the entire clamp assembly nerds replacing. Depending on how much one saws in inserts on both the top clamp and the bottom clamp should be changed out e very 6 months to a year. The will happen on most clamps, depending on what they are made of.
  15. Like a couple of other posts I sand my wood smooth and clean he saw dust off very well. Then I spray glue the back of the party and wait about 1 to 3 minutes, sometimes even longer and place the pattern directly on the wood. after I finish my cut I cut either peal off the pattern easily. If it is a lot of fret work I will usually apply a dampened rag with mineral spirits and let it sit for about 30 seconds and the pattern comes off and the fibers of ply never lift.
  16. Another welcome, his time from across the States in Southern Arizona. I am not familiar with the projects you are talking about here but if you log on often, I soon will become familiar with them. The main thing is to become comfortable with your scroll daw and enjoy whatever is your liking on it
