  5. A late welcome to you from Arizona. I hope you hop in here a lot and be sure, if you haven't already, to look around at all the hidden places in The Village. What I mean by that is, take time to explore all the forum spots as there are a lot of things to see and a lot of information you may miss if you do not. Dick heppnerguy
  6. I know you logged in awhile back but I have been away from home over the holidays and not back to the computer much since I returned. A late welcome to you from Arizona. Glad you are with us and I hope to see you around here often. Have fun with your new saw. Dick heppnerguy
  7. Jim/ First of all, welcome to The Village. We all are glad you choose us to become family with. It looks like you have things pretty much under control as your work looks quite good. Keep making sawdust and come back often as that is the best way to understand a little more about one another. Dick heppnerguy
  8. I have made a few fret clocks too. I tried a wooden gear clock but could not get it to run. I gave up on it but I still have the plans so who knows what the future may bring. I have eye the train clock pattern you used but never got around to buying the plans. My look them up again. Dick heppnerguy

Welcome from another Arizona person. I too would suggest going to Steve Good's site because he has so many beginner patterns and also some for the experienced scroller. Have fun, buy good blades and post some of your work. Remember we all started at one time, ourselves. Hang on to your first piece so you can look back at how fast you progressed. Dick heppnerguy
  13. Welcome to The Village from sunny southern Arizona. I spent almost three years in NC at Fort Bragg. Glad you choose to join our group, now you need to sign on often, that way we can all get to know one another better. We are a world wide family of friends. Dick heppenrguy
  14. I would not consider ply either. Especially with foam core. Dick heppnerguy
  15. I am not sure if they make Cedar plywood. I am sure there are also other kinds of good outdoor wood you might choose. I just am not very knowledgeable about wood. Dick heppnerguy
  16. I am not sure about wood supplies on the east coast but it is very common in Lowes and Home Depoe, here in the western states and all lumber stores Dick heppnerguy
  17. Cedar is a good outdoor material. They use that for fences and it is easily available in big box stores. It is on the softer type of woods but you might give it a look see. Dick heppnerguy
  18. I will have to ask Alexa to play some of theirs.. I just need to remember the name. Dick heppnerguy
  19. that looks like one heck of a nice magnifying light. I am just now starting to use one that was given to me but nothing near this on. who knows, maybe some day. Dick heppnerguy
  20. I love your portrait work. the way you handled their hair is outsanding. I kept a copy of the photos and cutting so I would have a reference for hair to look back on. great pieces Dick heppnerguy
  21. Nice portrait. I am familiar with the songs mentioned but never payed much attention to who sang them. What made you think of him so many years after he died? Just curious Dick heppnerguy
  22. Bernd, You did it again. As soon as I saw this I have the same thoughts expressed by Paul, so peaceful to view. This looks like a good seller piece to me. Hey, I am almost to where I can get to your 36 Ford convertible.. So excited to start it. I keep getting more projects that people want me to do. Dick heppnerguy
  23. Nice project. Spiral are worth learning if one is interested in complex fret work. I have tried them off and on and I find I go for them with fret work of this detail. Sure make life a lot less tense when I do. I did one similar to this with pattern from Sam Custodio. I find fret patterns that take a long time to cut are so worth the time spent, as one feels they have achieved something everyone will be amazed when they see it and makes the craftsman feel proud inside. GREAT PROJECT Dick heppnerguy
  24. An interesting and unusual piece. You can't find this in any store. I love it when I have something that original. Nice project. Dick heppnerguy
  25. if I had it on my page I would ask $70 for it. Nice pattern and cut and I have to agree with you on the wood. Too perfect Dick heppnerguy
