  1. Ya, he once said on one of his videos he had never used a flat blade. If I remember correctly he use a #5 F.D.,, do not know which clamp he used but I would thing the middle size one.
  2. I do quite often mainly for enlarging the vain in a piece. Cut it with a flat blade then go over it wiith a 3/0 F. D. spiral. As a mater of fact I use the clamp to sort of straighten the end. Work it in there than clamp down on it. I do it on both ends. The only spirals I have used are the F.D. 3/0 and the Pegas 2/0. Spiral require a liittle more tension because, I think, when you fire up the machine it stretches out the twists a little so you need to compensate for that at the beginning,,, That is my theory anyway.
  3. Sure enough looks llike him..."wipe on, wipe off,,, wipe on wipe off". Did you not love that '46 Ford convertable? i had one, but it never got to the point of looking like that one.
  4. Nope, I am not sure at all, you very well may be correct.
  5. Well I rarely break them now, but when I first got my Hegner I did... It is mostly in the tensioning. After a little while it became a natural feel and sound when I put a blade in.
  6. I really think, unless you use big blades often, the smallest clamp is all you need. I use up ti a #5 size and have never used either of the other two clamps.
  7. You need to make a Hegner scroll saw blade, drill bit and clamp finder. Not hard to make and a real knee and back saver!
  8. If it has a head band I would have known it.... I watched his movies..
  9. I would not try to replace those springs, Any spring that is strong enough to lift the upper arm up and keep it there is good enough. When I modified mine so the arm would go up higher I picked up the spring at Ace Hardware. It in not nearly as strong as the original spring was.
  10. The one with the dimple on top is the mid size... As Ray says match up the slot and the one with the biggest slot it the biggest the other is the littlist. Which is the only one have ever used because I have never used a blade bigger than a #5 If you get the. Quikclamp it is good for all sizes. I am stating this from memory which I have had over a #5 of either.
  11. i've had my Heger for several years now and I still jump when a blade brakes! It is not that thing just quit working, That blade Pops up . It can really wake you up!
  12. Welcome from the Eastern side of the state. You do not say but looking at the saws' location you are looking at You must be on the other side of the mountains. Either you already picked up that Excalibur, or someone has, I don't see it listed anymore... Looked like a nice saw that had been well cared for. If it got sold and it wasn't you that bought it, do not worry there are lots of saws listed. Several nice looking Hawk saws and a real nice looking 18" Hegner ( I think it is a little overpriced for a 18") but still a lot cheaper than a new one. Wished you lived on my side of the mountains, We could get a small group going. There are two other guys that live about 40 miles from me and we keep in touch and get together a couple times a year. We have a great time. Any welcome to the village. Looking forward to getting to know you and the work you do.
  13. Yep. if the motor runs, the speed control work, if would be mine as a restore project. You would end up with a great saw. Even is the speed control doesn't work, I would buy it and see if I could fix it or get it fixed. You got a heck of a deal for sure. Looks like fun work to me.
  14. Are all G-4 saws like this or are all newer saws after the G-4 have the same G-4 fearures?
  15. Great job!
  16. Can you use the varible lens in glasses? I have had the kind with no line. Love them. Been wearing them for years now.. I know of some that do not like them. I started with bifocals with the line but when I looked at the speedometer in the car I saw double vision... the varible lens cured that for me.
  17. Why not some powerful reading glasses!
  18. Come and see me with three $100 In your pocket to show me,, you may be missing come dinner time.. Okay, Come on gang,, Just kidding!
  19. I think I see a ratio of 8 used RBI's for sale versa 1 Hegner, so there are a lot of RBI's to choose from... I have always wanted to try one. I know there are some things to look out for because there were some that had clamps and motor that were not so good. But I do not know enough to know what to watch for. If I find the right on at the right I may pick it up.
  20. While you are waiting to decide go watch the Hegner video at advance machinery https://advanced-machinery.myshopify.com/pages/helpful-videos-demonstrations-advanced-machinery if you order a new one, or purchase a used one, the QuikClamp is worth every penny. Haw, I just watched them again... I do not do everything as they do and you probably will develop your preferred method also. But pay attention on the info on the quikclamp... the regular clamps float in the holder, the quikclamp does not.. Did I mention they are on sale right now..
  21. Nice, I like cutting sycamore. Comes with some neat colors and cuts nice.
  22. To pretty to sit under a hot pan! That is a wall hanger for sure! Very nice work.
  23. Nice pieces, Barb. That humming bird one would be a good candidate for a stained glass backer and used as a window hanger...
  24. It's a tough decision, they are having a sale right now at Advance Machinery. Mine is a 2010 model I purchased one of their demo machines. I love my Hegner. Took a little getting use to because tensioning very important. At first I broke many blades and got real discouraged... Call Advance Machinery and they talked me through it. All of a sudden it clicked and I've been happy ever sense. Just feel comfortable with it. Like an old friend. I can't tell you what to do.. Maybe check for a club in your area and contact them to see if someone would let you try theirs. The only improvement I would like to see them make in one, is a bigger table.. I made aux. table for mine out of masonite to increase the size a little. The big table on the Seyco I had spoiled me. Good luck.. The only reason I won't say go for it is the price. And unfortunately they do not have a good record for resale value. If you can find a used one.. that is in good shape.. that is the way to go. There was one on Craigslist, in my state the other day. There are quite a few on Craigslist in my area. Some look to be in great shape.
  25. Very beautiful piece.
