  1. Gotta love our pets. I'd love to take my cat out to the shop but I'm sure she'd disappear on me and I'd have to go looking. She loves to sit on my desk and watch Nascar though.
  2. Rolf, was this machine a Chinese or Taiwan or ??? Both of my saws are green. One is Canadian and the other is Taiwan. I took the Taiwan saw apart and greased all the joints but I haven't gone all the way to the rear yet. I guess I had better have a look. So far, no vibration but I don't want any either.
  3. It's way over my head but I did buy an Arduino starter set and have learned a little bit from it. I have always been interested in electronics but at my age, it's very hard to grasp all the terminology.
  4. I know there has been a few mentions here on Scrollsaw Village about CNC machines and 3D printers. I ran across this little video on youtube and thought some of you might be interested in watching it. I subscribe to "Instructables" and almost everyday I get an email with a bunch of things that folks have made and how they did it. This is one of them. Here is the link to the actual article. https://www.instructables.com/id/BACK-TO-BASIC-MINI-CNC-PLOTTER/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email
  5. Not sure what you mean. Pics?
  6. Very creative and imaginative. I like them.
  7. Nobody has mentioned that you might be very smart to see if there is an upgrade to your saw to allow you to use pinless blades. Being stuck with only pin end blades you can't get any of the very tiny blades that will allow you to get in tight places. No matter what brand you end up with, if you can convert to pinless blades and then get sample packs from the 3 top suppliers, you'll be able to figure it out for yourself. The projects that you cut and the wood type that you use will dictate which blade tooth design is best also. But until you can switch to pinless blades, you are really limiting yourself in many ways. Best of luck in what you choose to do.
  8. Congrats on your wins. Great work deserves recognition.
  9. Great idea using the clamps.
  10. She was a wise lady. I hope you know that I'm just "jesting" with you. We all need to make the adjustments to our scrolling environment that allows us to work in confort. If that works for you, then it is "beautiful". Scroll on fair maiden!
  11. That's absolutely true. But, how to you get off your feet and still lean against it? I have bad feet and I am always looking for ways to stay off of them.
  12. I guess that you are calling it a "chair". I remember many years ago when there were still milk delivery trucks that had a "leaning post" type of seat that the driver would lean against while driving between stops. I'm old, I get "confused" very easily anymore. LOL.
  13. Whenever I lose something, I go buy a new one. I always keep the receipt so I can return it because I know I'll find whatever it was.
  14. That's not a bad drive. Especially for the rainbow at the end. If you can pick up both saws for that price, I'd be all over it too. As Kevin said. Maybe you could offer him an extra $50 to meet you half way.
  15. I will offer this only because it has happened to me. By the time you get to the end of a project, my may lose some of your concentration and also just become lack-a-dazical. I have no idea how to spell that. Anyway, when you first start, you are 100% into it but by the time you near the end, your mind has moved on to the next part of the project. It's just human nature and something to be worked on. I'm 77 and still trying to do it but each day, the solution is farther and farther from me. Best of luck.
  16. Why? Just asking. I can't imagine making anything that big and flat. Are you going in the sign-making business?
  17. Too bad we are so far apart. I'd love to dig in and help you make as many good saws as possible out of your junkers. And do all the re-greasing too. It would be fun.
  18. Which saw do you have? Chinese or ??? Have you tried turning the motor to take the aggressiveness out of it? That may help some. Another thing is the Pegas blade clamps. They helped my saws and I have the good green saws made in Canada and Taiwan. I've no experience with the Chinese saws but Kevin has and after rebuilding his, it was better.
  19. The absolute best saw blades I ever had were my Forrest blades. I had the 40 tooth Woodworker II, the dado set and the 100 tooth for my 12 inch Dewalt miter saw. At least I think it was 100 tooth. Anyway, my point is, if you can afford them, they are the best that I ever came across. Sadly, they all got sold when we went fulltime RVing. Now, I live with whatever I find that I can afford.
  20. I am no expert by any means but to me, your major problem is the wood you are working with. Get hold of some B/BB baltic birch and I think your problem will be solved. That plywood you are using is just not meant for this type of work.
  21. The only suggestion that I can make at this point, since just about everything else has been covered, would be to attach your magnifier light to something other than your saw. The vibration, no matter how slight, is transferred to the light and whether you realize it or not, it effects your view through the lens. I have my saws sitting one next to my bench and the other up against the shop wall. One light is attached to my bench, and the other is clamped to the vertical stud of the wall. Neither light is in contact with my saws so they never get the vibration transfer. It really does help. Best of luck with your new saw. I knew you would love it. Now, GO MAKE SOMETHING and show us.
  22. I have bought nothing but used saws, all from Craigslist. I watch everyday even though I'm no longer needing a saw. I have purchased and resold 3 saws and now have 2 of the Green Excaliburs and money in my pocket to boot. I strongly recommend doing the same if the market near you is anywhere as good as it is here where I live.
  23. When I moved into our mobile home, it came with a 9 x 13 foot storage shed that I immediately claimed as mine. Of course there was some argument over that but after I put up shelves at the 7 foot level for all of HER stuff, the rest was mine. It has studs every 20 inches so I installed outlets on each stud at 42 inches off the floor. I have lots of outlets. They are all on a 20 amp circuit. I also put in outlets for all my overhead lighting on a separate 15 am circuit. You are absolutely correct in that you can't have too many outlets. I even put some out on the driveway for those days when I want to work out there. Have fun with your new workplace.
  24. FrankEV, you are going to LOVE your new saw. I don't have a Pegas but if they are anything like my Excaliburs, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy your new toy and be sure to post some pics of your work. We all love pics.
  25. Sounds like you hit the lottery. Enough wood to keep you busy through the winter. Have fun and be sure to post pics of your creations.
