  1. Do you have a link to the paint markers you use?
  2. Great job. I also hate painting. You did yourself proud.
  3. Well, here it is. I am very happy with this one! Woods used - Purple Heart, Butternut, White Limba, Yellowheart, Canary Wood, Wenge, Aromatic Cedar, Orange Osage, Zebra wood, Cherry & reclaimed Elm. Cut with #5 MG blades. Finish is mineral oi/beeswax mixture & buffed. This will be heading to my niece - the one that grabbed me the purple heart- for her birthday at the end of the month. Everything for it seemed to fall into place. Her getting me the wood. It is an owl and she loves owls. It is her 30th!
  4. All are looking great. Whose pattern is the one with the snowman ornament? I do a similar pattern, but much more jagged so it takes forever to cut.
  5. Don, Is that including shipping and exchange? I order from Garnet Hall at $6.50/dz for MG#5 plus postage.
  6. Thanks for the comments. I like to mix it up. After a disappointing sale, last year, I made a decision to cut what interested me and not to try to figure out what the public wants. This is the second eye that I have cut. The first one was on a larger board of quilted Maple and included the eyebrow. I am grateful that my shop is in my basement, so not weather dependant. That being said, it is with mixed feelings when I miss a beautiful day outside. We are heading into winter now. Temp this morning was 5 C with a high of 11.
  7. Thanks for rotating the photo.
  8. It is quite thick, but very light. The store had it listed as Spalted Maple.
  9. Got these done for some upcoming shows. Poplar cut with #5 MG blade. Walrus Oil finish.
  10. This is an H. Botas pattern. I believe this is a piece of Spalted Maple. Finished with varathane. The original pattern has an eyebrow but this piece wasn't wide enough to allow it. I didn't want to shrink the pattern to fit because it would be way to small. I love the way the colours of the wood popped with the finish.
  11. That is why I like scrolling. Just glue the pattern down and cut away. No measuring!!
  12. I have had both eyes done. The first one was in 2009, the other in 2019. Because of the difference in vision between the eyes, and my age at the time, 20/20 wasn't an option. I still wear progressive lenses. My mid-distance is my best vision and I can go without glasses for that. However, I wear them all the time. Because of this, I didn't notice a difference when I was sawing.
  13. Thanks Dick.
  14. I have a pair of shoes at the door to my workshop to wear in the shop only. most times
  15. I have a room in my basement. Just hubby and me, no kids to worry about.
  16. It looks great from here! Give it to your friend. They will only see the love you put into it.
  17. I have one project, in particular, that isn't finished. It is a multi-layered mandala. I had some "mistakes" on a couple of layers. It has been sitting for 2 years now. I am not really interested in finishing but then again, I don't really want to throw out all that wood. I was stack cutting 4 at a time.
  18. Always great work @FrankEV.
  19. They all look great. I use mineral oil with my beeswax.
  20. I am on a pizza box right now!
  21. OMG, I had the same washing machine when I first got married!!!
  22. Wow Frank. That is beautiful.
  23. Thank you, everyone, for your kind words and encouragement.
  24. Thank Frank I have no desire to get into resin work. So many others also suggested that. The inside is just over 2" deep. The Koi is sitting on a 1/2" raiser. I have also decided to just leave the edges as they are.
  25. Welcome to the retirement crowd! They are all great.
