  1. That looks great Paul and a great idea! How big is the hole? It might make a good clock if the hole can be adjusted to 1 3/8” to fit a clock fit up.
  2. For 3/4 hardwood or BB, I would use a #5 or larger. Saw speed is up to you. I tell my students to start with a medium speed. If you are cutting and it’s dragging, turn up the speed. If you can’t stay on the line because the speed is too fast, slow it down. Saw speed is a matter of comfort. Whatever speed is comfortable, is the right speed. Before you start on good wood, practice on scrap wood.

    Puzzle

The pieces don’t have to look alike, as long as you have good keys and slots.

    Puzzle

They look great Ken but, save yourself some steps and cut the pieces free hand. You don’t have to attach a pattern if you cut free hand. My avatar is my first puzzle. It was cut completely freehand, no pattern. It is also a calendar page. When I decided to do this puzzle, I practiced on a scrap piece of 1/4” BB. Once I got the hang of it, I went for it. I think it came out great!
  14. They are very nice Ron, but I think we need just a little more information.
  15. I have a Pegas on order, expected to ship at the end of the month. Obviously, I haven’t used it yet, but I expect it to perform and last better than my DeWALTS have.
  16. Ray, you can’t delete a post here, but in an edit you can erase everything in the post including photos and videos. To edit, click on the three dots in the top right of your post.
  17. Well Charlie, you look pretty young! I figured you were bald like Charlie Brown, but you have a full head of hair! You did an excellent job on the pattern and the cutting!
  18. I use Red Oak. Although thin oak can be fragile, I have no problem using it in certain applications, like as an overlay with a backer board. I’m getting ready to cut some dream catchers out of 3/4” Red Oak.
  19. All great looking work Jim!
  20. Cute!
  21. Nice!
  22. You know he is working on it as we speak.
  23. Welcome to the Village Elvena! Lots of folks here willing to help out. Feel free to ask Questions. Tell us a little about yourself such as Country, state and city so we can tailor answers to you.
  24. I have meet Paul Schurch and have seen some of his work. He did a presentation at our woodworking club, then held a class in his Santa Barbara studio. I didn’t attend the class as I could not afford it at the time, but I wish I had. He does some amazing work!
  25. Ray @octoolguy took a marquetry class, and he is as old as you, Paul. I’m sure he will chime in here shortly.
