  1. Hey Gary, I always apply a top coat. I always use rattle can lacquer. I’ve found that Minwax spray lacquer dries fast. Two coats 30 minutes apart each side works real well. I can package and ship the next day without any smell.
  2. You did an excellent job on them Melanie! I do miss Dirk. I have cut many projects by Him. I’ll post two of my favorite Christmas projects designed by Dirk as soon as I get them out of the attic.
  3. Very nice Judy, I’m sure they all will get a kick out of it!
  4. I’m not a fan of formulas. Say Bob takes three hours to cut his project. He bought his lumber for the project at retail. Now, Bill can cut the same project in 45 minutes, and buys his lumber wholesale. If they use the same formula, guess who’s will sell? the way I price is, I look at the item and decide what I would pay for it. Then if I’m going to sell it on my Etsy store, I’ll add what Etsy charges me. Now for friends and family, I always tell them I will give them a good deal. This tells them that yes, I’m going to charge them. For the most part, they are willing to pay full price anyway because they already know what is involved to make the item.
  5. I definitely would use FD UR blades. A size 1 for all the fret work and a size 3 for the letters. I use these all the time for this type of work.
  6. They look great Don, you did a very nice job!
  7. Nice!
  8. Yes, very nice indeed!
  9. Beautiful piece of wood and great cutting!
  10. How can she not like it?! It came out great!
  11. The issue i see is you have a permanent line on your project. Unless you can cut 100% accurately on the line, you will have burn marks on your finished piece. That’s fine if you paint the project though.
  12. Excellent work young lady!

Great looking game Irene! I’m not familiar with it, but it looks good to me!
  19. Great work Brenda, love them all! And, great looking pups!
  20. No problem here in California. You can even have it delivered!
  21. The only way for you to know Tom is for you to try them. I use FD Polar blades for compound cutting as they are a skip tooth blade. But I think the #3 is too small for most compound cutting. I do use the #3 for cutting the small birds of the mini compound bird houses. I have not used the Penguin Silver blades.
  22. Great work Les! If she is a fan of the caricature, she is going to love it!
  23. What a wonderful gift! It is sure to be treasured!
  24. The reason you can’t remove the interior waste is your cut is angled rather than straight up and down. Check that the blade is at a perfect 90° to the table. If it is, you are applying lateral pressure on the blade when making your turns. You have to let the blade do the cutting. If you go off the line, pull back a little instead of trying to push the blade back to the line.
  25. There really isn’t anything you can do except include in the listing: Handcrafted using a scroll saw. I have that on most of my listings. There is a a button that lets you report the review. I’ve never used it so I don’t know how far you can take it.
