  1. Curious George! Check for coloring books and children’s books about Curious George.
  2. I use a spare room in the house. I hooked up a Scrollnado. It’s not perfect, but it is helpful. I took up the carpet and painted the floor. I have a pair of shoes at the door that I wear in my room and I leave the shoes I wear in the rest of the house out side my room. I brush myself off before exiting.
  3. Same, cardboard box.
  4. I clamp a microfiber cloth over mine. That plastic flip cover broke off.
  5. That’s exactly why I started doing a small craft show in my area. It is once a month, billed as a community yard sale. Here is the backstory: I saw a pattern (Steve Good probably) and I said that I wanted to make it. My husband said, Where are you going to put it? Now, I make what I want, take it to the community sale and sell enough to pay for the cost of wood and miscellaneous. It’s just a hobby born from my addiction to scrolling.
  6. After I had a bad circuit board. The repair person told me it looked like a power surge. I replaced all my power strips in the house with new ones with surge protection. Just in case. I also keep a second saw.
  7. Plan a get together at a coffee shop. Instant meeting!
  8. Our Scroll Saw Club meeting is held once a month. Every month we have a challenge something that we make and bring to the next meeting. We have a drawing to see what we will be making for our challenge. (I made the list from Steve Good’s site.) Place the slips in a Tupperware, someone pulls one, etc. We talk about the things we made. Questions we may have, perhaps problems we had, etc. This past month was music.
  9. Pinless blades only, no adapter needed. variable speed. The top arm raises The table tilts.
  10. Nice to see you Kevin!
  11. Are you enjoying it? Are you learning? Are you looking forward to your next project? Time spent doing these things is time well spent.
  12. I keep some mineral spirits in a spray bottle. I use the spray bottle to spray the nozzle of can of spray adhesive after each use. Then wipe it off. It works.
  13. Connecting a variable speed foot control WILL ruin the saw. It is NOT recommended. I use a deadman switch. Press and it runs, let go it stops. Some use a press it’s on, press again and it’s off.
  14. Gross discounts are only for one blade size. I usually buy by the gross.
  15. I add mats. It was good enough for a blue ribbon.
  16. That’s neat!
  17. I like him!
  18. I paint the inside of the backer black. I purchase my frames from Hobby Lobby or Michael’s, whoever is doing the buy one get one 50% off. If I frame the piece, I don’t add a wood backer and the frame is hung the traditional way.
  19. Hobby Lobby or Michael’s, buy one get one 50% off. That’s how I do it.
  20. I typically use 1/4” wood with a 1/8” backer. I use a sawtooth hanger on the back. i glue the hanger with E6000. After glueing, I place a small metal pellet tin (about 2 1/2” round) filled with lead shot balanced on the hanger and leave it about 12 hours. Then, I hang it on my wall and let it hang for a day or so to be sure it’s ok.
  21. When I got board with my saw I started looking for alternative materials to cut. Acrylic, Steve Good has an Angel cut from it. Card stock (paper) Steve Good has a pattern for a gift box mad from it. Corian, there is an article in the Scroll saw magazine on the subject, Sandwich between 1/8” plywood I have cut a small flower in a notepad to make it uniquely mine. then a piece of a leather belt became a key fob with that same flower cut in it…. If all else fails, buy a new pattern book. (There’s a new people and pets book)
  22. I think you are supposed to put a drop or two of scented oil on the felt backer.
  23. Your work is beautiful. You make nice choices.
  24. That is so cool. Beautifully done.
