  1. Look at the choices you have, as opposed to the choices that have been taken away from you. Because in those choices, there are whole worlds of strength and new ways to look at things.-Michael J Fox
  2. Looks great to me! My wife and I have a good relationship, 40 years, but if I want to feel good about something I’ve cut I don’t ask her what she thinks about it. Brutally honest, and if she attempts a fake approval, after 40 years it’s easy to spot. Obviously, I know she won’t be reading this.
  3. Nice work on everything.
  4. Very nice!
  5. Yep! It’s amazing I didn’t kill the tree. I put some steps going up to a little seat I put in the fork of the tree for the grandkids. They don’t wiggle.
  6. *One of my artistic daughter's helped me out and drew a new sprig of hair for the left side of the portrait which I added as a floater. Love it when she helps me. My wife found an awesome nursery about an hour from us called, Heimu's Himalayan Gardens. It is run by Heimu, pronounced Hey Moo, who is from Tibet. She sells lots of succulents, which is something my wife loves. My wife picked out lots of plants, I got the one little one in the picture by the little wooden man carving. I told Heimu I liked the carving and she gave it to me, which was a big deal to me because it wasn't for sale but one of many carvings a friend of hers that has passed away had given her. I made this sign for her and can't wait to get back to give it to her. This one was much more gratifying than any celebrity. I found a couple of cool pieces of wood to make planters for my wife's flowers in the woods behind our house. If you're interested here is the link to Heimu's Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/heimu1983
  7. Nice work. Glad the procedure went well. I have A-fib but wasn’t a good candidate for ablation.
  8. Very nice!!!
  9. You're welcome! I used 1/2" Sycamore and #1 and #3 Flying Dutchman Ultra Reverse blades. I like using thicker wood but that's just a personal preference. I start with the eyes since they're usually one of the most challenging/fragile areas and if you mess them up it's time to start over. I'm pretty slow myself but that can be a plus I suppose. A very talented craftsman friend of mine once told me, "Try to make it perfect, and it usually turns out pretty good."
  10. Thank you! In case you're interested in cutting it for her, here's the pattern.
  11. James McAvoy, as Tumnus, from The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe. Seemed right to take this picture in the woods. If you're not familiar, Tumnus is a faun. Sort of half goat, half man I believe.
  12. Certainly is! Glad she’s enjoying it!
  13. The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe movie was remade in 2005 and they did an excellent job. The Chronicles of Narnia is actually made up of 7 books with The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe being the 2nd and most well known. I read an enjoyed them all. Wasn't 1982 just last year?
  14. The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe is a book by C S Lewis. It is from a series of books, The Chronicles of Narnia. Narnia is a magical land and to get there you can only go through magical portals, such as a wardrobe, a picture frame, or in this case, a crack in a piece of oak. The lamppost is a big part of the story, and a faun named Mr. Tumnus left the foot/hoof prints.
  15. I had a piece of wormy oak with a bad split on the end. Turns out the split is a lamppost, and a portal to Narnia!
  16. Great looking boxes.
  17. Great job on a unique piece!
  18. Thanks to @Ron Johnson for the idea of rounding the ends of live edge wood.
  19. I can understand that. It’ll last longer that way and she can pass it down to him.
  20. I’m sure it has a lot to do with my diet as I don’t really eat healthy, but it’s triggered by so many things I’m not sure if it would be worth it to cut it all out. I need to eat better, but I’m also a big believer in enjoying life since none of us are getting out of here alive.
  21. I also have pretty bad reflux. I was on Prilosec for a while and it worked great but they took me off of it due to some possible side affects so now I eat antacids every day.
  22. Another Lord Of The Rings piece. I did one like this a few years ago only smaller. This one is about 11" X 15". We're redoing our spare bedroom and I wanted a bigger one to put above my Grandfather's old dresser. (Actually, my bedroom. We sleep better that way. ) It doubles as the Grandkid's room when they're over so my wife came up with the idea of the art hangers over the righthand bed. I also built the beds a couple of weeks ago. I also have my reading corner in this room that I posted a picture of the other day. I feel like I'm in The Shire.
  23. I've got to give this a try one day. You've created some beautiful bowls/art!
  24. My kind of toy!!!
  25. Extremely cute!!! I would think those football ones would sell so well. I almost hate to say that because that's not really the point. They make me happy.
