  1. I love that! But I love that it's a Great Grandson present even more. Awesome!
  2. Thank you Dick. I think I worked on this pattern on and off for about a week. A small amount of talent combined with a lot of patience. I believe the first night I just finished the eye on the left. As I've said before, I just treat it like working a puzzle or something and work on it till I get tired of it, then put it away.
  3. Thank you, Marge. I’d probably love that. A friend of mine was just telling about it.
  4. Love the bird feeder, but I have to say, that sounds like a death trap. I think I'd invest in an electric fence charger if you're actually talking about putting 120 VAC on a metal pole. But maybe I'm misunderstanding.
  5. Aragorn, King of Gondor, from The Lord of the Rings. I put him, Gandalf, and a map of Middle Earth by my new reading chair. Now all I need is a little Halfling Leaf/Old Toby.
  6. Those rock! I would say some good advise when cutting this project would be, "Don't fret."
  7. It's in the pattern library under New Patterns.
  8. Great looking work. I've got to get around to making a bowl, they look really nice!
  9. Thank you so much! You did an excellent job cutting this. The frame is beautiful and I like all the colors together. Awesome piece!
  10. You’re welcome. Looks really great! Wonderful cutting on the names. I’m loving Sassafras. Such pretty colors but not distracting.
  11. Nice job! The Joker has also killed a man with a pencil.
  12. Great work! Lots of cool/happy looking stuff.
  13. Excellent job! Made my head hurt to think about what the process was, so I quit and just enjoyed looking.
  14. Thanks Marg. I like it too, but as I said, it was an accident.
  15. Nice cuts! That's a lot of holes!
  16. That is really great! So 3D looking. I hate when someone changes what they want mid process. Whatever the circumstances you did an amazing job!
  17. I know it's inanimate, but I like to think of it being happy to have new life. "A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men."
  18. Thank you Dick! I’m giving it to one of the sweet ladies at our local Meals On Wheels. Favorite part of the hobby for me.
  19. Thank you very much! I'm using Cute Cutter, but it does take a very long time. I enjoy it though so I don't really mind. I've been using black, then changing the fill to gray with a red stroke in Inkscape. I did one the other day with light blue fill and red stroke and really liked it. The blades seemed easier to see.
  20. No, it's not mine. I've had it quite a while and don't remember where I got it. If you google it there's a ton of designs that show up though. I didn't see this exact one.
  21. They're all good but for me the flower is just beautiful! Just an outstanding piece of art. Love the barn wood frame!
  22. Nice job Rodney. Happy cutting of the dog! Glad to see someone else using Cute Cutter. The more you play with it the more fun it is. I like that it sort of intuitively helps when you're making adjustments. Just wish it would let you zoom in more than it does and make more minute changes. If there's some software out there that does what Cute Cutter does but lets you zoom in more I'd buy it.
  23. After cutting this piece, a crack showed up at the top that really took away from it. It looked to just be on the surface so I tried sanding it out with the edge of my orbital sander but it was deeper than it looked and I sanded a noticeable low place. I liked the way it looked so I kept doing it. Made this pretty piece of Sycamore prettier.
  24. You're welcome, and I 100% agree there is no right or wrong when it comes to how different people see the same thing. Often I'll work on some facial feature for an hour, get happy with how I did it, and the next day think it looks awful.
  25. Hi Dick. Just some thoughts from my perspective, not necessarily right or wrong. I just worked from your pattern of course and not the original. I've never had much luck adding highlights to eyes from above. I usually come from the side. I took a little off of the mouth and nose and broke up the left side of his face a bit. I think, in this case, letting the mind fill in some of the details of the mouth and nose works. I try to make lines like the ones in the forehead, or wherever, vary in width since consistency looks more artificial as it rarely occurs in nature. There's probably not a portrait on my wall that I wouldn't do something different on if I did it again but I guess that's part of the fun of it. You never stop learning. Just some ideas that may or may not be any good to take or leave.
