  1. I'll start by saying this is extremely close to a pattern by Charles Dearing so I would never share or sell this pattern. I saw his pattern on Scroll Saw Association of the World on Facebook and liked it, so I found the original photo he worked from and made my own pattern. I've seen a post from Charles himself about pattern designers using the same source photo and that nobody should have a problem with that so I don't think he would mind. If you like it, as I said his pattern is very similar and is for sell on his site, Wooden Visions. I did some checking and Matt shot 158 men and 7 women. He was shot 56 times and lived. So probably best not to draw on him.
  2. I'd like to see it framed too. Really looks good. What size did you cut it?
  3. Cool looking piece!
  4. Nice job! I really do like this pattern. Got someone in mind it would make a nice Christmas gift for.
  5. Wow, Timothy! Fantastic job. You made my day! Love the stains you chose and the way you framed it with the backer! Thanks for sharing.
  6. Welcome! We're all still learning! Good looking projects.
  7. I don't know what Australia or England's equivalent of The Andy Griffith Show would be, but it's probably the most beloved old television show in the US. I made the black and white comment because most everyone here agrees it was much better in the beginning before it was in color. Partly because one of the most popular characters, Barney Fife, left the show.
  8. Did an easy cutting of Alfred today using a free stencil that I tinkered with a bit. Sometimes when you hold on to those ugly pieces of wood a use for them turns up. Happy October!!!
  9. That's usually the answer to how something is done so well. Multiple coats, lots of sanding in between, blah blah blah. Where's the product that does all sides at once with a perfect finish the first time. Paint, sandpaper, lacquer, I can buy. Patience is my downfall.
  10. Howard McNear as Floyd Lawson. I started to paint the backer red behind the barber pole, but everybody knows, all things Andy Griffith are better in black and white.
  11. I love it. And like everyone else I'm envious of your painting skills.
  12. Same way I felt about The Revenant. Saw it with my son and son-in-law. We all said, "Good movie. Never want to see it again."
  13. Here’s my collection. Some scroll saw related, some not.
  14. Welcome from Alabama!
  15. I really like that. Excellent job on a cool pattern, and perfect spot for it!
  16. Just a heads up. Pertaining to the drilling rather than cutting the hole and using different/harder wood. I have a really hard time drilling from both sides of, say 1 1//2" oak and having the hole come out perfectly centered in the middle. Maybe others don't but I sure do. So I just drill from one side since it only needs one hole anyway. Not saying this is the way to do it, just what I've done.
  17. Thank you very much! Yes, I did make the pattern. Let me know if you'd like a copy.
  18. I'd have to caption it, "Ah, Juicy Fruit."
  19. I’ve been wanting to see it again too.
  20. Jack Nicholson as Randle Patrick "Mac" McMurphy in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. 1/2" Red Oak. About 7" X 9"
  21. I didn't read it but looked at the pictures. He should work for Disney.
  22. I found something wrong! You cut the S's backwards on two sides. I've done some of those and struggled to get the point on the bottom to come out right so I opted to just round off the bottom. You nailed it. Great job! I do like @Hawk's idea about layering different woods. I'm going to give that a shot.
  23. Very nice!
  24. Thanks Marg. I wish I had the patience to do that. It’s a wise idea. Several times I’ve taken a finished one off the backer and recut something I wasn’t happy with. Your way would be much better.
  25. Thanks so much Dave! I'm happy with this one but I'll bet I'm one of the slowest pattern designers out there. Several hours on this one, but I enjoy it almost as much as the cutting, especially when it's a grandkid. Also, I owe the font I used to you. Thanks!
