  1. Or you could take the easy way out and cut this Steve Good pattern.globe.pdf
  2. This caught my attention. I don't remember seeing any discussion on which direction to cut. And I haven't noticed any difference in my cutting. Am I missing something? And does it make a difference? And most curious as to why. Thanks, joe
  3. Welcome. If you have scroll saw questions, this is the place to come!
  4. I came across a utube video a few months back (and can't find it now, dang it) of a man who made a template of his scroll saw table out of wood and put it on top of his scroll saw table for just that purpose - to use all of the blade. I think it's a clever idea, but for me, it complicates things and adds more time to the process for that little bit of extra blade use. Now, here's a thought - if you really want to make your next million, invent a scroll saw with an adjustable table that not only tilts side to side, but could easily be adjusted to raise and lower to enable you to use the unused portion of the scroll saw blade. Oh, and if you make that million, I would appreciate an idea fee of 1/2% of that million.
  5. Check Steve Good's website. He has A LOT of free patterns.
  6. You are an inspiration! Congrats on all the learning that went into your 5 years of success.
  7. Be careful - she might like your thoughtfulness so much she will leave again just to get you to make her another something. Nice cutting and display! Clean design and good visual impact.
  8. Yeah, cutting letters is hard depending on the font, size, etc. - BUT - the extra time spent getting them right pays off in an impressive piece - LIKE YOURS. GOOD JOB!!!
  9. love, Love, LOVE it!!!
  10. what a coincidence! I have 6 of those I cut out a few months ago laying around unfinished. What a brilliant idea you have. I'm going to do the same for our granddaughter and hope she fills it up for a rainy day.
  11. I've cut text only a few times and it gives me an even greater appreciation for the precision cutting you did on that piece. Really (x3) GOOD WORK! |- times 3
  12. Hmmmm, does that qualify as an antique then? Just kidding. Awesome cutting!
  13. I needed some down time between "honey-do" list projects, so I hid in the garage and tried my hand at these 3 Steve Good patterns. Simple, but satisfying after being away from the saw for several days.
  14. Now I know what to do with all those leftover scraps!
  15. If my granddaughter sees this I'll have to make one for her! Well done!!!
  16. Hope you have a guardian angel working to save the finger. And thank you for sharing - it helps reinforce my desire to always respect the equipment and use accordingly.
  17. OK, here 'tis. I was surprised to see you used a regular blade - I assumed with the "organic" cuts you used spiral. Did you change blade sizes very often?
  18. Greetings and welcome from Dover, Delaware.
  19. WOW! All these submissions are really beautiful. It shows me what can be done and that is really motivating. Thanks to all for the photos.
  20. So, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and ordered a few spiral blades. Just finished a HUGE outdoor project that covered the past two weekends. Lots of huffing, puffing, and sweating. And it culminated in a happy ending - it works! Anyway, the blades came in this past Monday and I saw this pattern and it seemed like a good idea at the time... Well, I finished it and let me tell you, that was a different scroll sawing experience! It turned out just OK. I guess. I almost quit it, but went back and finished the cuts. One frustrating thing was getting the bottom clamp to tighten on the blade. I'll try the spiral blades again but let me say this: My hats off to you men and women who do spiral cutting! It's a whole nother way of cutting. Any tips/tricks you want to share would be appreciated.
  21. If you are new to Scroll Sawing, this is THE PLACE to be! Welcome!!
