  1. Welcome to the Village from Spokane, WA! I am a U of M Griz grad....love Montana especially the Fishing!
  2. I do think the red stands out more but I feel the black one is more classic and simple, since the cut is really lacy, the black makes it more sophisticated...Kind of like the little black dress.
  3. Wow! that is amazing....looks like it is out of red oak. How thick is the wood? I love how you did the frame around it especially the guitar....If I would have cut that, I probably would cut too much and have had the body of the guitar fall through ....very creative.
  4. That is so cute! Now I know why @BadBob was looking for a round picture frame recently
  5. I am not sure how small you are talking about but there are doll house sizes at Hobby Lobby....
  6. Wow, I love the lilac color...sooo pretty but I love that color and you did such a nice job when cutting it. Hmmm, guess you will have to see what colors she likes....My husband always looks at my clothes in my closet to figure out what colors I like (most of the time - except when picking out the color to paint our front door!)
  7. Pete, Wow! I really like that....Richard has a point about the knees, but I guess I wouldn't have a problem with that. I do love your drawer. Hmmm, I might need to make something like that....Love the EX, too? Is it an EX 21?
  8. Really cool...We have wrens and I should make them some houses...They are beneficial birdies. Thank you for sharing!
  9. Those are all just too cool! Fine work as always. I love your Millennium Falcon...excellent job and I bet your Grandson will as well
  10. Really pretty colors! Very well done!
  11. I really like yours! Well done!
  12. Charlie, Oh my gosh he it just too cute! He looks like he is happy to have it....Thank you so much for sharing that picture.
  13. Very nice as always!
  14. Wow! So nice....I am sure he will love it. I love how you did the green and red for the lightsaber colors. Great work
  15. Robert, I am sorry you are having this trouble. I also have had that issue so now I just use hardwood but typically 3/8 - 3/4 inch. I do have a wonderful bandsaw for resawing to the thickness I want, then use my Jointer (sometimes drum sander) and planer to finish it....pretty happy with the results.
  16. Oh, I am so sorry I forgot to mention that earlier. Wow, Charlie, you must be crazy fast to cut it three different times! I am still working on my second picture....Anyway, I am glad you finally got it done and I am sure your grandson will love it.
  17. Charlie, I am glad @Gene Howe and @TAIrving posted as well...they are sooo right. You need to seal the wood some way first. What I do is I use a spray lacquer because I have so many weird fret holes and my wood is about 3/4 inch thick so I want to make sure I get a good cover. Also, I hang my wood on a clothesline so I can spray it in all directions
  18. Charlie, Darn it that was such a cool picture, too! If you do it in the future and want more details, please message me. I think I gave you the gist of it in this thread but something else might come to mind. You could try sanding that down to the wood to "open up the bubbles" (you may need to poke a few to really open them up and then pour a nice thin layer over the top (it will fill the bubbles especially if you poke them with a pin to make sure no air is trapped with the new pour), then use your heat gun per usual... It might be worth a try....
  19. Charlie, I am so sorry to hear that....The problem I have had with epoxy pours is if there are any air pockets under the wood, bubbles will come out forever...so to avoid that. I put a very thin layer of epoxy down (I use Jess Crows from Total boat....I get it from Woodcrafters) and use it as a glue to the back board. I paint it onto the back of the picture and the back board and stick the two together. Let that sit up for 4-6 hours (not too tacky) then do my next pour over the top. I also put really good packing tape around the entire edge of the picture so it doesn't leak out. My 2 cents.
  20. Really nice! I love the old nails as well...Really nice accent to the frame.
  21. Congratulations! I am sure you will be happy!
  22. Awww, so cute! I love the 3D look. I googled her and found she has a couple of books on Amazon. Which one did you get the pattern out of for this or did you get it elsewhere? Thanks for sharing
  23. Bob, you are one lucky guy! Great find
  24. I have an Excalibur 21 saw and I do very small fine cut work. I have tried all the blades mentioned here except the Delta Sharps. Now I primarily use the very small blades #1 and 0/2 blades. I find with my saw I need to agree with Ray @OCtoolguy I have the best control with the Pegas and I also feel they last longer (that is of course you don't break them). The Flying Dutchman are good blades, they (small sizes) just seem to flex too much for the fine work that I do.
