Gifts - Scroll Saw Challenge

This month's scroll saw challenge should be an easy one.  Us scrollers can't resist making gifts for others.    So this month's challenge is to  post a pic of a gift you made for Christmas.  Tell us who it's for, why they might like it, or a little story behind the project.  I always like the stories behind the cool projects y'all make.

My neighbor just ordered 8 units of various types from me - puzzles, wall hangers etc.

So, in gratitude I made them a wall hanger for themselves.

Nothing special, but here it is...

Few years ago I started to give Christmas ornaments to each family in my church. These are the ones I made last year. But with the covis this year I won’t be able to do it. Church is on Facebook this season. Steve Good pattern.

Every year I make something for my mother to gift to people who help her out.  Both are Steve Good designs, with the second one modified with acrylic angels to see the tree.

Did a couple of these earlier this year, finally got the second one a home.    We'd gotten our daughter some horse-riding lessons (in part to help with anger management, part to just get her out of the house and into the sunlight for a while!), so it just made sense.  Plus, my wife says I make her enough stuff during the year, she doesn't need anything more at Christmas time.  She'd prefer something more....sparkly.  LOL

I've done this pattern before and I think you made a brilliant job of that and your daughter would be thrilled with it. Great cutting !!!

 I did finish it up after this photo was taken, added some black tacks around the edge of the scrolled piece to help hold it in place and to make it look less like it was just glued on.

These three pregnant mother silhouettes I have made this year for the three 2nd grade teachers in my daughter's school. I think they will love them because they will be able to place a baby or ultrasound picture on the heart.

Made this for my nephew, he has to break it apart to get the $$$$. All layers have been glued together. I know you guys will call me mean Santa.

Great Idea !! I once put a £50 note in a glass frame with the title 'In Emergency Break Glass' and gave it to my God daughter for her 18th.

I had considered some of these as well, but I hadn't planned on them in the first place so the border wasn't right.  I could have gotten the larger ones (had they had any in black) and just made little X's across the border, but the braces along the back of the piece weren't aligned with the border.  Or maybe I'm just overthinking things.  I'm happy with how it turned out.

I give ornaments to my nieces & nephews every year.  The compound cut ones are for them, Sue Mey pattern.  The grandson and grandnephew are getting the puzzles.  The son-in-law is getting the shelf.

Each year I make gifts for the teachers at my daughters school.  She is the principal.

This year it is mini birdhouses.  Numbers way down this year as some of the teachers reassigned to the virtual school.

Decided to make  this for me.  Took me two days to cut.  Normally it would take a hour max, but with my eyes bothering me so much I can only scroll for a very short time.  Now I just hope my niece doesn't snitch it.  She's a huge BigFoot fan.

Hi all, 

This idea came from several concepts I saw all over the net.  I am terrible at straight or smooth cuts. This is going to my grandaughter who takes music lessons.  I hope it gets her past traditional notes.  Multi notes are a better than black and white notes.   There is many problems with this piece.  Terrible matching thickness of lines. etc.

I posted both of these before under Bragging Rights with long winded stories.

Both of these were made for my Lady who loves Hummingbirds.  I made the Hummingbird lamp a few weeks back and it was supposed to be a supprise for Christmas but, as things go, she got to see it and claimed it right there and then.  So I managed to make the Hummingbird Jewelry box without her catching me,  posted pics of it a few days ago, and then wrapped it and put it under the tree before she found it.  Whew...took some doing.

I have one more gift to make for Christmas at my daughters request and I'm cutting it thin (no pun intended) time wise.  I ordered a special pattern from Scroller over a week ago and it has not arrived yet.  If it shows up soon and I'm able to finish and ship in time for it to get to NY by Christmas I'll grab a quick pic and post it.  Wish me luck.

Edit: OOPs, I did forget to include a pic of the six Christmas Crosses (Stack cut) I made for neighbors and family members:

 

Edit #2:  In case anyone is interested, I did manage to make the Gift my daughter requested and shipped it to NY.  The package is sitting in the FedEX facility near her (today 12/17), but deliveries are being held up by the snow stome in the NE.    She will get it tommorow so still made iot in time for Christmas with a little time to spare.

Edit #3:  (12/22) Thought I would just add another gift I just made for my Lady.  Look under Braging Rights "R" if for my Lady.
