The rolls are cash register tape...

I purchased 10 rolls of 3" - single ply for just under $30, enough for decades (except I depleted my supply by making these gifts!)

The idea is an old one, but the pattern is my own... I made one this morning, took pictures of the process and wrote a nice blog about it this afternoon... But when it was all written, I was unable to post it??? Probably something I did on my end, but it was very frustrating...

I'll try again...

This is a pattern from Sheila Landry, "Rocking Reindeer".  I made a total of nine of these for family and friends.  From left to right, poplar stained with Minwax Gunstock, Oak stained with Golden Pecan, and Cherry stained with Golden Oak.  The toughest part was assembly, but I got it done.

You have made 9 of those!   I have made one set and you are correct, assembly is the most difficult part.

A 150 piece Lincoln log set. I did not target 150 pieces, just got lucky. Logs are poplar. Roof trusses and slats made from scrap walnut and pine. I made two sets.

That is a lot of work.

Alot of work, but what a great idea.  I had a set when I was a young boy.  I think it helped develop my love for wood working.

To @BadBob, @jerry walters, @Scrappile,

We had them growing also.. I still enjoy playing with them.

yeah, it was a lot of work. (Not really) Mainly cuz my head was up my you know what a couple of times.

My table saw died on me so I ripped and cross cut the pieces on my bandsaw. I routered the grooves and 45’s in basement shop (too cold to do it in shed). That was a big mistake!  I can’t believe how much dust there was even with dust collector😀.
The roof trusses were cut on the scrollsaw saw.
there are a few YouTube videos on how to make these which actually make it easier than a person would think.

All in all, Im very happy how they turned out, better than I thought they would.

By the way, anyone have a recommendation for a table saw?
