  1. Dan, I stack cut 4 layers at a time, I use 1/8" stock. I use 1/8" stock for the backer on these cuttings, because it makes them easier to frame than 1/4" is. Well their all easy enough to frame, but, the extra thickness of the 1/4" makes for a thick fit in most store bought frames. Len
  2. Well Kevin, it will last longer, but, not forever. I have a piece of wood that I lay under anything I'm drilling, I move it around so that there's no chance of the wood getting a small blow-out from the drill passing through. I don't know if your idea will work or not, I suppose it could if you never move the press table, and as you suggested you always use the same sized drill bit. I use a backer when drilling, but, I still sand the back side of the cutting with an orbital sander before I begin cutting. I find that doing so, makes the piece of wood move more freely on the saw bed. Len
  3. Todd, that's a good looking cutting, I'm sure the recipient will love it. Len
  4. Nicely done Edward, the colored plexi really sets it off. Len
  5. Nicely done Alex. Len
  6. Nicely done Damian, your niece is sure to be pleased with the outcome. Len
  7. Jerry, that's a good looking cutting. Len
  8. Iggy, don't worry about wearing out your welcome, you can't do that here. Post away, we are very interested in the things you do and make. So, post away. Len
  9. Wayne, which ones are you talking about? Len
  10. Kevin, it's a nice looking piece, but, you placed the period in the wrong place. It should be placed after the Inc, rather then after Industries. Len
  11. Kevin, are you related to the Eveready Bunny? You just keep cutting and cutting and cutting and........ Len

    Nicely done Ralph. Len
  13. Terrylee, you've got another winner, this is an amazing bit of intarsia. Len
  14. Nicely done Iggy, but, you must have been seeing pirates in your sleep after cutting that many. Len
  15. Danny, I'm sorry but I can't help you out, I've never used the stuff. I am very interested in reading the replies you get, I've been doing some turning and would like to color some of the wood. Len
  16. Rob, hopefully it doesn't take very long to get to you. Len
  17. Nicely done Kevin, you sure are cutting lots of names lately. Len
  18. Nathan, you did an amazing job cutting this one out, there looks to be more than a few hold your breath moments. Chef was a great pattern designer, to bad he passed away. Len
  19. Terrylee, it's good that your feeling better, but, you get more done when your ill, then most people do when they're feeling 100%. All of these pieces look fantastic, but, I like the one of Jesus carrying the cross best. I've never seen that cutting before now, is it your pattern? Len
  20. Nicely done Denny,I like the look with the different colored feathers. Len
  21. Ray, there's not many places around where I live, that you can get descent lumber at. To get nice and sometimes exotic wood, I buy it on the internet. Len
  22. Joe, welcome to the site, it's nice to have you join us. As to your query, I haven't got a clue because I don't use spiral blades. I may be wrong, but I think you'd be better off using a flat blade. Spiral blades have quite the kerf, that's what makes me think they won't work. Others will chime in later, I'm curious to see what they have to say on this subject. Len
  23. Laust, I think that you will either have to paint it, or cut another one. I don't think stain will look right, because you will still see the error. Whereas paint will cover it, so that it will not be seen. Personally, I would just cut another one, and mark this one as a learning experience. Len
  24. Nicely done Dave, it will make a nice gift. Len
