  1. 16 years ago my wife asked what I wanted for Christmas. I said power tools. She bought me a scroll saw. I said I wonder what this is for. I bought a few book and the rest is history. Short and simple.
  2. Hmm... Could it be Sassafras? Does it have a sort of spiced tea scent?
  3. Sweet! The color is a great touch. Steve needs to make the stick men sitting around a campfire.
  4. I'm just the opposite. I've had issues with variable speed controls going out. That's why I passed on the Dewalt and went with the Delta P-20.
  5. Just buy it.
  6. I like them all. The cat made me chuckle.
  7. I'm with Wayne on this. I do thing the sealer would also work, though I've never tried it.
  8. No zero clearance for me either. I think about it when a small piece wants to drop and gets hung up but that isn't too often. When I did the Marx Brothers I saved some pieces to put back for support but never used them. If they pop out just toss those pieces. I do usually have a finger close to the blade when cutting fine detail. Relax and don't over-think it. It sounds like you are already doing what a lot of us do.
  9. Nice job. What a nice way to ring in the start of the season.
  10. I'm with Katie and Dan. I mostly drill in the center but if appropriate I'll drill at the end.
  11. Welcome to the Village Ruth! Ask any question and you will get answers.
  12. Very nice indeed.
  13. I always bought mine from Sloan's. Everyone that sells them have similar prices.
  14. Very awesome! What size is it?

    Very nice job.
  16. The more I look at it the more I like your use of the grain. I'm still not sure of the wood type though.
  17. You could resaw them all in half then book match them. Of course they will be thin but you could glue two book matched pieces back to back. A lot of work but you can get the boards you need.
  18. OK. I was looking at the log the bear is resting on. His head and ears look a bit like poplar. Is the wood softer than oak?
  19. I'm with John... Oak for sure. I think it's white oak. The grain of walnut sap wood is quite a bit different.

    Nice!
  21. If you want to see it work, stack two pieces of 1/8" plexiglass and make some cuts with and without packing tape. I was sold at that point.
  22. Wow, that's a lot of cut! Great job. With your patience your other hobby must be watching grass grow. I don't have the patience for that.
  23. Awesome!
  24. Welcome back!
