    I've tried in the past to connect with her. She does not respond quickly. I thought I'd see if anybody might have her books and be able to tell me which one to buy or not buy.

    I ran across a picture of a segmented basket/bowl done by Carole Rothman. I know it's in one of her books but I don't know which one. Maybe somebody here has the book and can clue me in. Anyway, I've looked at this picture for about an hour and my head hurts from trying to figure out what sort of a glue-up would be required to make this piece. I can understand the rings but the pieces in between have me wondering. I hope somebody has this pattern or book and can let me know. Thanks in advance. I'll be happy to buy the book once I figure out which book it is in.

    I've followed your advice and it works. A very light coat on both surfaces. Then let them dry almost. Like using contact cement.

    That is amazing. A TRUE work of ART. You should enter that in a county fair. It'd take best of show for sure.

    I bought 2 of those hoses when I made the onboard dust collection systems for my 2 Ex's. I used the Metrovac 500 and a tiny cyclone with each one. They work great. The hose works great.

    That's got to be a first. Have you contacted record book folks?

    And I have a ton of them in my desk drawer. I also use one to "scrape" the bubbles out from under tape and shelf liner. If I still rode a bike, I might attach one to my wheels as we did as kids.

    I've gotten burned by a hot blade once or twice and I also wasn't paying attention one time and ran the end of my thumb into the blade. It did a razor cut right on the end. The scroll saws have got to be the absolute safest power tool there is.

    Just under the frame of the saw so that all the dust just drops down into them. 3 Sided with a bottom. 1/8" BB ply.

    I've been told that there are only two kinds of woodworkers. Those who have lost a digit and those who will lose one. So far, I'm in the second group. And I plan to stay that way. And I'll do it without buying a "Sawstop" saw.

    I look forward to seeing just what you came up with. I have no 3-D printer or required skills to operate one so if might be interested in buying one from you. I do have dust control on both of my Ex saws but I'm always looking to improve them.

    I've bought and sold many used saws. I have all the hold downs in a box. I always forget to re-install them on the saws that I sell. Oh well, they aren't needed anyway. I guess I'm doing the buyer a favor in a way. Now they never have to ask what to do with them.

    On my Excalibur saws, the sawdust that doesn't get caught up by the dust control will filter down onto my lap or shoes. So, I made a couple of slide in/slide out boxes and they catch what dust makes it through. That's where all the tiny pieces also go if they don't get sucked up. So far I've had good luck with finding them. If they do get sucked up, well, that's called "creative license".

    He's my mascot. Whenever I am confused over a post or don't have an answer, I rely on him to reply. I've kept that board because of its unique grain. Love it!

    I think you might be able to take any light species and dye it with food coloring.

    Correct. The lever is on the Pegas clamps. But not the ones sold for Dewalt. It was something that I experimented with and it worked. They are a more expensive set but worth it. When I sold my Dewalt I just moved them over to the Ex that I acquired. I now have two Ex factory clamp sets that would probably work on Dewalt/Delta saws that would be better than stock ones.

    Ok, tell me how you apply tension. Is it not by sliding/turning the tension ring? On my saw, I'd set that amount of tension and leave it there. Don't touch it again. Then I would apply/release that set tension by simply flipping the little lever.

    On Dewalt saws you adjust the tension with a lever. Correct? That lever does the same job as the knob at the back of Ex type saws. It sets the amount of tension. The flip lever on the Ex saws/clamps actually " locks" the tension that has been set by the lever/knob. Its faster as far as I'm concerned. I hope you understand what I'm saying. Once your tension is set, you don't have to adjust it again until you change blades.

    Did you buy the ones made for Dewalt? I bought the ones made for Excalibur & Jet so I could set the tension with the slider and then just flip the lever for applying/loosening the tension. Worked great.

    I don't use a square. I just do the time-tested method of cutting a kerf in one side of a block and then spinning it around to the backside of the blade and check it to make sure it slides in the groove. After doing this a couple of times and then checking with a machinist's square, I found that it is always dead on. And, I have more than enough scraps.
