  1. I just had a brain fart. Not sure if this is something that has been mentioned before. The none wing screw side of the clamp is usually just a set screw without a swivel tip. How about if a person were to take it out and replace it with another wing tipped screw but with a lock nut on it so it can be adjusted and then set to stay in one place. That would provide a swivel tip on both sides of the blade. Am I on to something? I have a couple of extra wing screws so I think I'll give it a try.
  2. Beautiful! They should cherish it.
  3. I did something similar. I can easily roll either of my Excaliburs outdoors and they both have their own onboard dust control systems. When inside the shop they hook up to a Fein vac. I do like the idea of a 10 degree tilt. I hinged the tops of the stands to enable that but have never done it. Don't ask why. Just haven't.
  4. It was years ago and it went with a custom stand and dust control. And at the time there were no deals in effect. It had been tuned and maintained. She got a good saw.
  5. Yes, considering I sold my used one for more than that.
  6. Yes, me too. I sure do miss him.
  7. Did you read where she found that saw in a dumpster. She brought it home, cleaned it up and was amazed that it worked. Who, I repeat Who, would throw something like that away?
  8. That's how I learned to swim. I got tossed into a pool and learned pretty quick.
  9. Wow! This one came back from the dead.
  10. I've had excellent service also. I try to inform folks from other sites of his business and great pricing.
  11. This was recently discussed here. It is interesting. She is amazing.
  12. The simple answer is "they just work better".
  13. Been there & done that! 2/0 is very small.
  14. I'm truly hoping that it turns out to be a good investment. We need more mid-range saws
  15. I'm sort of confused here. Doesn't your saw have a tilting arm rather than a tilting table. I have 2 Excaliburs and they both have tilting arms.
  16. And then there are the governments dipping their greedy paws into the pie.
  17. That's the first negative response I've heard.
  18. Regarding what Charley said about using a zero clearance type of insert, I use a playing card that I saw to the center and then use packing tape to close the slit and to hold the card to the table. As for what Paul was talking about, I think he is referring to project panels that can be bought at Home Depot. They are are 11 by 17 inches and come in different species of wood on top and bottom with a solid core in between. I've not tried them yet but from what I have read here on the Village, they work well. Just a bit more expensive.
  19. Bill, I've got two Excalibur saws. Both green machines that both came with the crappy mechanisms that Excalibur had. I hated them. The changeover to Pegas clamps solved all my hangups. They are easier to use and stay in adjustment far better. And, the way the Pegas clamp bodies are made, using a high grade aluminum, will keep them from ever spreading like the Dewalt/Delta clamps eventually do. So, with that said, it's just a matter of keeping the clamp screw tips clean and flat. So far, after a couple of years usage, I've only dressed one set of clamp screws using a fine sand paper and a flat surface. The only complaint I have is the price and I figure that the import duty/tariff is responsible for a lot of that. Not sure but thinking so.
  20. I found, besides the better quality of construction, that they had less vibration. A definite improvement. But, yes, the price is exorbitant.
  21. Thanks for the offer. If only it were that easy. Gotta sell a home in a down market and then pack up everything. No thanks. Too old.
  22. Thanks, I think? I am sure I never turned on underlining because I NEVER use it. So, if there was a key combo I don't know what it is. As to my needing space, what woodworker, other than Dave Monk, do you know who doesn't need more space? I want to free up some wall space so I can mount a bench grinder on the wall and have my spindle sander right under it. Maybe one of those rotating cabinets so that I can also have my planer more useable. Who knows? At this point, I'm lucky to find time to go out there anyway. My wife has a list of crap for me to do all the time so I'm booked up through Thanksgiving Day.
  23. I envy you Carolina folks so much. If we weren't so old, we'd move back there in a heartbeat.
  24. I have a 16 and a 21 green Excalibur saws. I'm thinking of selling the 16" as I need the space.
  25. You will love that saw. And as for size most of us will never need anything bigger. I've been scrolling since 2011 and haven't needed anything with more capacity. I have no idea why this is all underlined. I did not turn on underlining. HELP!
