I'm sort of confused here. Doesn't your saw have a tilting arm rather than a tilting table. I have 2 Excaliburs and they both have tilting arms.

Regarding what Charley said about using a zero clearance type of insert, I use a playing card that I saw to the center and then use packing tape to close the slit and to hold the card to the table. As for what Paul was talking about, I think he is referring to project panels that can be bought at Home Depot. They are are 11 by 17 inches and come in different species of wood on top and bottom with a solid core in between. I've not tried them yet but from what I have read here on the Village, they work well. Just a bit more expensive.

Bill, I've got two Excalibur saws. Both green machines that both came with the crappy mechanisms that Excalibur had. I hated them. The changeover to Pegas clamps solved all my hangups. They are easier to use and stay in adjustment far better. And, the way the Pegas clamp bodies are made, using a high grade aluminum, will keep them from ever spreading like the Dewalt/Delta clamps eventually do. So, with that said, it's just a matter of keeping the clamp screw tips clean and flat. So far, after a couple of years usage, I've only dressed one set of clamp screws using a fine sand paper and a flat surface. The only complaint I have is the price and I figure that the import duty/tariff is responsible for a lot of that. Not sure but thinking so.

I found, besides the better quality of construction, that they had less vibration. A definite improvement. But, yes, the price is exorbitant.

Thanks, I think? I am sure I never turned on underlining because I NEVER use it. So, if there was a key combo I don't know what it is. As to my needing space, what woodworker, other than Dave Monk, do you know who doesn't need more space? I want to free up some wall space so I can mount a bench grinder on the wall and have my spindle sander right under it. Maybe one of those rotating cabinets so that I can also have my planer more useable. Who knows? At this point, I'm lucky to find time to go out there anyway. My wife has a list of crap for me to do all the time so I'm booked up through Thanksgiving Day.

I have a 16 and a 21 green Excalibur saws. I'm thinking of selling the 16" as I need the space.

You will love that saw. And as for size most of us will never need anything bigger. I've been scrolling since 2011 and haven't needed anything with more capacity. I have no idea why this is all underlined. I did not turn on underlining. HELP!

I tried both FD and Pegas and decided that Pegas is my go-to blade. The FD for me was not easy to control.

Sorry Don, but I have read and re-read your posts and can't make any sense of what you are trying to do. But, I will look forward to seeing it when it's finished just to satisfy my curiosity.

Strangely, I have not aged in appearance. That pic was taken about 12 years ago but I still look the same and still wear that cap. Along with my collection of Trump hats.

Gene, do yourself a favor and take those first cuttings and sign the back side and date them. Put them away for a year or so and then come back and see your improvement. Both in speed of cut and accuracy. My very first cutting was of a butterfly done in some scrap 5/16" BB ply. I hung it up in my shop and look at it every once in a while. I look at it and see where I had problems with turning tight corners or drifting off line. Those things now are not problems but it came with experience and seat time behind your sawblade. I tried reading books but they were of no use to me. I have gained EVERYTHING I know from right here at SSV. And practice, practice, practice. I noticed also that if I am away from the saw for a couple of weeks, when I come back, I have to regain some of the lost "muscle memory" that really goes away fast. So, I have learned that if I've been away from the saw, I do a practice cut of something to regain what I lost. Being 80 years old is not for the weak. For sure.

I'm really sad to hear that the Wen is not a winner. Let's hope they get the bugs out and present a better product.

If you check back a couple of weeks on here, we have one member who had 2 of those saws go bad while still new. He took them back and bought a Dewalt or Delta. I'd check out the Hegner mentioned above.

I don't blame you. I hate doing anything too much. If I have something that somebody really likes I make one for them. If someone asks me for something I've not done I will price it according to my "wanting" to make it. Most often just time & materials. If my price is too high it means that I probably didn't want the job. My hobby is for my benefit. We have no room left for many more projects. So if I make something now, I have to find a home for it.

I searched out all of the forums and this is by far my favorite. I spend too much time on the computer so I'm glad there are not many. Thanks Travis for creating the warm and welcoming atmosphere that SSV has. I've learned everything I know about scrolling from this forum. Steve Good does a wonderful job of creating patterns and reviewing tools and related equipment so I'm very thankful for his site also. Keep doing what you are doing. We all appreciate it.

I haven't found a need for wheels yet. Except for my stationary tools.
