    I've bought and sold many used saws. I have all the hold downs in a box. I always forget to re-install them on the saws that I sell. Oh well, they aren't needed anyway. I guess I'm doing the buyer a favor in a way. Now they never have to ask what to do with them.

    On my Excalibur saws, the sawdust that doesn't get caught up by the dust control will filter down onto my lap or shoes. So, I made a couple of slide in/slide out boxes and they catch what dust makes it through. That's where all the tiny pieces also go if they don't get sucked up. So far I've had good luck with finding them. If they do get sucked up, well, that's called "creative license".

    He's my mascot. Whenever I am confused over a post or don't have an answer, I rely on him to reply. I've kept that board because of its unique grain. Love it!

    I think you might be able to take any light species and dye it with food coloring.

    Correct. The lever is on the Pegas clamps. But not the ones sold for Dewalt. It was something that I experimented with and it worked. They are a more expensive set but worth it. When I sold my Dewalt I just moved them over to the Ex that I acquired. I now have two Ex factory clamp sets that would probably work on Dewalt/Delta saws that would be better than stock ones.

    Ok, tell me how you apply tension. Is it not by sliding/turning the tension ring? On my saw, I'd set that amount of tension and leave it there. Don't touch it again. Then I would apply/release that set tension by simply flipping the little lever.

    On Dewalt saws you adjust the tension with a lever. Correct? That lever does the same job as the knob at the back of Ex type saws. It sets the amount of tension. The flip lever on the Ex saws/clamps actually " locks" the tension that has been set by the lever/knob. Its faster as far as I'm concerned. I hope you understand what I'm saying. Once your tension is set, you don't have to adjust it again until you change blades.

    Did you buy the ones made for Dewalt? I bought the ones made for Excalibur & Jet so I could set the tension with the slider and then just flip the lever for applying/loosening the tension. Worked great.

    I don't use a square. I just do the time-tested method of cutting a kerf in one side of a block and then spinning it around to the backside of the blade and check it to make sure it slides in the groove. After doing this a couple of times and then checking with a machinist's square, I found that it is always dead on. And, I have more than enough scraps.

    I just had a brain fart. Not sure if this is something that has been mentioned before. The none wing screw side of the clamp is usually just a set screw without a swivel tip. How about if a person were to take it out and replace it with another wing tipped screw but with a lock nut on it so it can be adjusted and then set to stay in one place. That would provide a swivel tip on both sides of the blade. Am I on to something? I have a couple of extra wing screws so I think I'll give it a try.

    I did something similar. I can easily roll either of my Excaliburs outdoors and they both have their own onboard dust control systems. When inside the shop they hook up to a Fein vac. I do like the idea of a 10 degree tilt. I hinged the tops of the stands to enable that but have never done it. Don't ask why. Just haven't.

    It was years ago and it went with a custom stand and dust control. And at the time there were no deals in effect. It had been tuned and maintained. She got a good saw.

    Did you read where she found that saw in a dumpster. She brought it home, cleaned it up and was amazed that it worked. Who, I repeat Who, would throw something like that away?
