  1. I think Sheila and Keith have those on their site for most, if no all states. If anyone else is interested, that is where I would start my search.
  2. Just found this. Hope it links: https://youtu.be/bQlhqFagZu0
  3. Those shows were taped about six miles from my house. The local museum spent a lot of time, effort and money to reconstruct the studio and turn it into a walk through exhibit. Old cameras, TV sets, furnishings, etc.
  4. The cutting is great and the finish is your usual excellent, smooth, high gloss.
  5. @JohnB and @Gonzo used "Wow" so I have to go with "Super" to qualify your work on this one.
  6. I'm out of town right now so I can't tell you the brand, but I have an 18g nailer and i have some 3/8" brads that I have used on 1/4" lath projects.
  7. A couple of things: I have followed Steve Good for most of the time he has been publishing and through the years he has stated he doesn't care if people are using his patterns to make money. He does make a soft request for donations on his posts, but doesn't hammer it. (And I have made donations and purchased his custom Christmas patterns) Second, back in the days when I was a working news photographer, I had a few of my images reprinted without permission. The maddening part is that in EVERY instance, I would have granted permission for a credit line and a tear sheet copy for my folio. (Long before internet, we actually kept photo books) So, I am a bit more careful about crossing the "fair use" line of copyright material. I not a lawyer, nor did I stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night, so I truly have no right or wrong side on this.
  8. Do what your therapist says and then get your rest. I know it's hard for us old timers to believe, but those kids know what they are talking about.
  9. Something new I am trying. (This is why I needed spray glue) Starting local because it is easier to find the fabric. Team fabric backers on upcycled (Goodwill frames) with hardwood logos. Trying to judge a fair price since I always price too low. Comments welcome.
  10. Looks great to me.
  11. Great looking work. Cutting and paint first class.
  12. This has been an off and on project for a while. Can't get anything but poplar in square stock locally, so I gave a few of these a baptism in various stains I had on hand. The birds are not meant to be copies of actual species, but rather inspirations. Some are just because I like the color. I just paint them as a way to pass time and keep my eyes and hands busy. Patterns from the talented Diana Thompson, who I hope might occasionally look at scrollsaw sites even though she has closed up shop.
  13. You have "pulled back the curtain" and vividly shown us where we came from. Everytime I think this hobby might become static, something new comes along: compound cutting, bevel cut bowls, your process for adding color, etc. It will be interesting to see what happens in the future.
  14. Like everyone prior, my greatest sympathies on the loss. I don't know that I would have been able to make the cuts you did and I admire the abilities of you and the designer.
  15. I don't know about others, but I been cutting for Christmas for weeks. (A little bit at a time)
  16. Get you some orange fabric and folks down your way will beat a path to your doorway!
  17. For a few years, I have made these state quarter magnets/ornaments and have sold a fair number and given away far more as thank yous. I needed something different for a big Indiana University basketball fan and came up with the idea of a framed outline on a fabric backer. True to form, I now own several different types of fabric and have patterns swirling for logos and other projects based on fabric backed upcycled frames. Frame size is 5 x 7.
  18. You weren't late, you just had a 12 hour headstart on us.
  19. Depends on the size of the wood and the cutting. When I make my state quarter magnets, I use 3/8" hardwood and since the quarter is 15/16", I always make the area where I place the magnet at leas th 1.5" to give me room to seat the quarter. On all but a few states. I am sinking a 1/4" rare earth magnet (from Lee Valley) into the back. I secure the magnet with a small pool of CA glue and it holds well. Some skinny states that become large tring to get the 1.5" require two magnets. I used to mix 5 minute epoxy, but have found CA works just as well.
  20. Got some I need to finish when I get a chance. Trying to emulate Denny!
  21. Only do your sanding/planing on the back so as to not disturb the patina.
  22. I use a lot of Watco spray lacquer. Come in about 4 sheens and depending on the surface, will build a surface quickly. (First coat is ALWAYS sacrifical)
  23. I will add to those who have cited seasonal cores as a part of the slow down. Saturday morning I mowed and then pulled most of the stuff off the patio to sweep and then hose down the pad. Then more yard work before I could break out the saw to work on the third version of a baseball sign for the preteen crowd. Spent part of Sunday working on building ornament stock for autumn shows and now I need to replace the bake element in the oven. Also getting ready to start emptying my wife's office as she retires. She has been in the same office for 20+years, so it will take a bit. Still looking in daily and making a few comments.
  24. As a former resident of Logan County, I offer up a big welcome from central Indiana.
  25. Congrats on being disciplined enough to hold the dropouts. My left hand automatically goes towards the burn bucket!
