  1. Never thought of doing a box. We all need a box to store all those treasures we have collected through the years. Where did you find the pattern? Guess I can search the web. Very nice cutting. Jerry
  2. That looks great Frank. I have that pattern on my to do list. You just gave me some ideas. Jerry
  3. Very nice Rich. Jerry
  4. Some people have all the luck Kevin. Jerry
  5. WOW TJ, welcome to the village from Colorado. Looking at your work I think we are going to be asking you a lot of questions. Nice cutting. Jerry
  6. As I said in a post yesterday, nobody knows what the pattern looked like, therefore no mistakes; Jerry
  7. Both are nice, but I feel I'm going against the grain, I like #2. Black and white make it stand out, but I'm not a critic. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Jerry
  8. Very nice Barb. Your hubby must have an eagle eye. Many times, when I'm cutting, I make a mistake, but of course I'm using a lighted magnifier to see better, which of course magnifies the mistakes. When I'm finished with the project, I can't find it even though I where it is. As they say, the person viewing your work has no idea what the pattern looked like. Jerry
  9. Welcome to the village Jessie. I'm Jerry from Colorado. Well. most of us are not pros but enjoy scrolling. You will on occasion get frustrated, but you will find this is something for the most part very enjoyable and will have a difficult time stopping. Very addictive as well as this web site. Many helpful people willing to help. Enjoy!!! Jerry
  10. Very nice. My son would love this, he is a Stones fan. Jerry
  11. Interesting topic, something I never thought of doing. I going to follow this and see where it takes me. The people in SSV are amazing. Jerry
  12. looks like a Yorkie to me. Was my wife's favorite dog. We had several. Jerry
  13. My finishing process is similar to yours in that I prepare my piece prior to cutting. Sand, wipe with damp cloth, sand again, until I am satisfied. When finished with removing fuzzies I will then stain. Since most of my projects are small my staining process is; pour a little stain into a zip lock bag, place my project in the bag, slosh the bag around for about a minute or two to ensure stain is in all the fret work, place the stained piece on a small oven rack, then using a small Home Depot air compressor will blow on piece to remove drips, wipe down. If satisfied will perform process again. Kind of a modified dipping process. When satisfied will spray Deft poly on it. I use the cheapest baggies I can find. If I make larger project will have to get some trays. That is my process. Jerry
  14. Paul, I am the guy who sent this pattern to you. I had posted similar projects on the SSV gallery when I first became a member. You had remarked you were looking for a similar pattern. It just so happens I was working on one requested by a friend. I sent it to you. When I saw your post of the finished project, I said to myself, that looks like my pattern. Made me proud to see it. I like how you finished yours. I usually cut mine out of a one piece of wood. My friend liked what I did, and I know your son will be proud to show his off. By the way, you have also helped me with scrolling military emblems. I have finished cutting two of them. Still have to put a finish on them. When complete I will be sure to send them to you. Thanks for your help. The folk's on SSV have been very helpful over the 2 years I have been a member. I'm wondering, are you anywhere close to Kennewick, WA. My cousin lives there. Jerry
  15. Tyler, you make your videos very interesting. I like your explanation as you cut and also suggestions how to finish a project. You give me ideas. Jerry
  16. My son is a wildlife photographer. He has taken several pictures of moose and if I remember correctly some of these pictures have water dripping from their mouth. Must be just sloppy drinkers. My son, and me too, would be proud to hang this on his wall. What did your wife think was missing from the picture? I like it. I wish my wife were still here so I could share my work with her, she loved when I would show it to her. Now I just bug my neighbors. As you can tell I like it. Jerry
  17. Larry, welcome, from Colorado to the Village. When you have questions, this is the place to be. You will find scrolling and this web site are both very addictive. Jerry
  18. Paul, I know your son will appreciate and cherish this gift. I have made a few similar to this for veterans and they have been appreciated by all. Great scrolling. The wood you used really makes it outstanding. Jerry
  19. I would like to add my experience with Denny. I have a Pegas scroll saw. Recently I had to replace the tension lever. The owner's manual showed having to remove the chuck, but the picture showed a different chuck, not the Pegas chuck. Well, not being mechanically inclined I shot a message to Denny. It didn't take long for Denny to respond. Was able to remove the tension lever and install a new one, all without removing the chuck. Seems to me Pegas would want to update their manual. Oh, by the way I did order the tension lever from Denny along with some other stuff. Jerry
