  1. Wow! It looks great! Paul, where did you get the piece that he welded to in the first place? Was that from Grizzly?
  2. I love your bear ....As you mentioned, I am not sure about the background either. Perhaps the grain of the frame and the grain of the background are distracting me...not sure. Maybe more of a lighter boring colored background. Here is a painting of a horse that I thought looked good with the background. If you had a bigger background, and since you airbrush very well, you could do a moon so that is what is lighting his fir like this picture I found on etsy but maybe you don't really want the silhouette look... Not sure if this helps. marie
  3. Very nice! I love the colors as well!
  4. Great cutting. I know all those straight lines are hard to cut. Wonderful design!
  5. I really like it! I wouldn't change a thing now.
  6. Welcome from Washington State! Yes, if you have any questions about scrolling you can post them in the General scroll saw section of the forum or the Q&A section. Folks are very helpful. Great work on your Green Bay logo!
  7. Ray, lucky you for finding a 12 inch disk sander for that price....Great find!
  8. I just went up in size from my EX 21 to now a Hawk G426 (so 26") I really did like the extra space to swing around my boards. I think going big just gives you more options. I want to eventually do scroll work on some furniture as well as doing larger pieces so I needed the extra size. The Seyco 24 does have a nice big table but I am sure either the King or the Pegas would also be wonderful saws....I really do like the Hawk G4... it is a beast compared to my Excalibur. By the way, I just love the picture of your daughter and you...thanks for sharing!
  9. Very nice! I miss Idaho....graduated from Coeur d'Alene HS and North Idaho College. Really nice work. And your idea for using a counter weight is an excellent idea. I will be using that on my current project as well. Thanks for the idea! Marie
  10. Dick, I bet she really did like it. It is really colorful and it has a vintage look to it as well. Reminds me of some of my dresses I wore as a little kid.... Really nice!
  11. Wow, thanks for those tips. Especially the one from Home Depot. I won't be doing any fretwork on this project but I have had problems in the past with length of drill bits so this is very helpful. Thanks again! Marie
  12. @Rolf Very nice!...so you don't get any drifting of your blade? What size of blade do you use!
  13. Happy birthday Paul! Glad you could share it with your family! Wishing you many more wonderful birthdays!
  14. Barb. Really nice and springy! What was your wood for the leaves?
  15. Ralph, This is the first time I can remember seeing a scroll saw ship. Very nice
  16. Reservations in Walla Walla, Washington for some wine tasting
  17. Bob, I actually did that by accident fairly recently too.... but it was a bit scary in that I thought it might explode into a gazillion pieces...but thankfully it didn't.
  18. RJ, from what everyone said it just doesn't go as slow as I would like. So I am considering the the one here by Foredom: https://intarsia.com/collections/hardware/products/foredom-variable-speed-bench-lathe?variant=31902373806123 But I like the option that Dave has of putting on a chuck to change to a larger diameter shaft...so I just don't know. I know with Dave's idea it would require a machinist to make a piece, which I am not oppose to having done. It's just that it still runs at 1750 RPMs where as the Foredom goes down to 500 RPMs..... I decided that the Bauer could work that way and it can go faster (which I am not interested in) and I really like the quality of Rikon....I have a few of their tools...Would like to know your thoughts?
  19. Yes, my EX 21 is set up that way....I guess I will have to build another shelf for my Hawk...No problem...I like shelves
  20. Nice work. Thanks for the reminder when Easter is.
  21. Charlie, Always fun to see your work. I love the thistle, did you have that on the previous one...I can't remember it. Also, you really did a nice job on his eyes. Pretty intense gaze.
  22. Thank you for the tip especially regarding keeping the pieces of boards the same size if at all possible if taping and if not the use of pinning etc....and I will work hard on taking my time. Thanks again!
  23. Thanks Jim for the tips and for the reminder to keep everything straight and look at the blade. I don't want to screw this up if at all possible
